Congrats to SantaCruzMts for becoming an Editor! And very well deserved with this beautiful review…

Name: Sour Diesel
From: Private Dealer (Organic Medical Garden in Santa Cruz Mts)
Grade: A
Type: Hybrid
Price: Not for sale.
Looks: Light and dark green with purple specs. Many red, some white and few pinkish hairs.
In an average jar there are golf ball to quarter size nugs. Well manicured.
Smell: Smells a little spicy and a little sour with fuel overtones. I catch a whiff of pine when I first open the jar.
Taste: Very smooth on inhale and exhale. I found myself saying "Nice" with my eyes closed before I even put down my 2′ Jerome baker bong.
It has a little pine/spice taste on exhale. This was nicely cured.
Buzz Type: Fast acting and strong but amazing amount of clarity during the whole buzz.
You can be social while using this medicine but also content to sit and veg out. No burn out at the end. Works really well for my headaches.
Buzz Length: Long. 2-2 1/2 hours for someone with a high tolerance (since that is all I can speak for).
Overall: Sour Diesel is worth keeping in the rotation as long as it is available in your area, for sure. It is one I go back to very often no matter how many strains I might have at that moment.
It works so well I forgot to take the second hit I took out of the jar to write this review!! Maybe I should get that in before I crop and attach the photos! –SantaCruzMts
Simply beautiful. –Mrs. Chubbs

Looks like the genuine article to me. Too bad about the white hairs, could have been even better if the grower had let it go a week or two longer.
looks good to me! nice review congrats on editor
yeah sounds great… sour D is one of my all time favs… being a sativa man as i always say, this is one of the top… best for anxiety and social situations
nice review. congrats on becoming an editor!
Soma doesn’t carry sour diesel buddy…..Soma has NYC Diesel which is completely diff. than sour D. lol……And yes this does look EXACTLY like sour D….looks alot like some super sour diesel I had a while back (super silver haze x sour diesel)
Doesnt look like Sour D at all. Those buds characterize a heavy yielder and sour d is not a heavy yielder at all, comming from soma seeds. The description of taste also doesnt match that of sour d. I really do think that is the Chronic from THSeeds and not sour d.
haha, you haven’t seen much sour d then. what’s available from your staple seed companies isn’t all that’s out there. I have had some sour d with monstrous nugs, almost commercial size…
also, any insight from anyone with experience out there about the white hairs leading one to believe it may of needed a little more…
is it just a difference in genetics from the crosses and their respective finishing times?
I generally find evidence of whitish hairs on the cola buds, or the tops of the branches. you can see all the smaller nugs on the branch leading up to the top will oftentimes seem much more finished than the very top of the buds… my understanding is also that the top will contain the highest availability of cannabinoids, i would assume from being in a growth state the longest.
What I’ve found is some strains if let go a little past being done they will throw another set of fresh white hairs, however I think gab is right on this one, it looks slightly under done. Diesel is one of those strains that taste way better if let go a little longer, even past the point of being done. As far as Soma seeds diesel, that is not even the same genetics as the real diesel so of course it looks different. The real sour diesel is a fantastic yielding strain with nice big nugs.
Soma is the guy who bread the original nyc diesel
and sour d is definatly not a ‘fantastic’ yielder in comparrison to other heavy yield / good quality genetics like the chronic or something like a mango ak
@wheezer
that’s some good information. Just working through some Sweet Tooth x Sweet Skunk and wow, just incredible. has some fresh looking white hairs in there, mixed with a bunch of fully matured ones and yeah, there is no way it is underdeveloped…
funny, as it has so many hairs in there, would make sense that they shot out a little later in the grow.
Woooohooo Thanks Chubbs and Mrs Chubbs..I started this whole process Of writing the reviews, and it has changed everything for me.. You guys rock.. Thanks everybody for reading my reviews..I am stoked on being an editor..
Yes that is Sour Diesel. It seemed to be well cured. and well grown. The white hairs persist on the main cola everytime I have grown this strain even when the rest of the plant is done.It does finish from the bottom up.. When I am checking Tricomes on my plants in flower I take a sample from the middle of the plant to view in the microscope. So I get a Average. I do not examine tricomes from the bottom or the to[ of the plant.
Freethehumans SOMA Stands for South Of Market It is an area in the city of San Francisco that is located south Of Market Street. A group of breeders/growers in that area have taken that name.Sour D is a Good yielder but not great. Thanks again guys and gals.. Made my day.
Smoke some Sour D. and enjoy yours
@SantaCruzMts: Thank you very much for being such an active member in our little community.

This is some fine herb and it’s currently in my town at the modest price of 360 a zip. I love this strain and I buy boat loads when it’s available as it’s a knock out! Great review man and have a blast.
hahahah are u baked…? This looks NOTHING like a kush….it looks just like SD and all Im seeing is sativa traits… you obviously havent dealt with any REAL kush
Kush is an indica bro
@ Those who think SD is not a yielder:
Sour D is a very big yielder. I have pulled a half pound of mine at one point. One plant to. Also it is not a Hybrid, unless we are speaking of NYC Diesel which is all Soma knows. And Chronic looks nothing like this, it is all lime green with white/manila pistils. Last this looks nothing like Diesel, not enough Trichs and the pistils are the wrong color. As well as the bud formation is all wrong, looks more like a Kush not a Sativa like Diesel.
You can’t fool the tastebuds..This was Sour D.. No IFs, ANDs or BUTs..You can not miss the flavor of sour D it is not to be confused with anything. And it is not a VERY big yielder it is a good yielder at best..But I guess it depends on what you are comparing it to.
Tebin Yes this stuff is fine.. Thank you for the kind words.
Keep in mind people that the same strain has many Phenos and can be grown in many ways giving it a slightly different look and you can not tell from a photo alone what you are looking at. Trust my many, many years of MJ experience This is Sour D.
I think people are forgetting that the way the plant is grown will effect the way it looks .outdoors/indoors same strains can look totally different.
@SantaCruzMts: rightly said! and congrats on your editorship. i cannot count the number of SD’s i have had over the years, and while some have looked similar, most look totally different from one to the other, which makes me think that i should send in a comparison review of some of the diesels and sour diesels i have had….hmmmm. nonetheless, delicious bud mate, great job representing E.coast Sour Diesel! you westy’s can stick with you Kush. nah just kidding, lets all share cuz i love kush too much lol. but sour d is a close 2nd.
Yea, I have had s.d. outdoors and got over2 pounds off them, but yes there are bigger yielding strains around. I guess I mean it’s a fantastic yielder for the size of the plant. The 2 pounder+ was only 3 and a half feet tall. Never heard of that south of market thing before, I’m not saying I don’t believe you, but Soma is a breeder in Amsterdam who bred the NYC Diesel, which is different than Sour Diesel. Oh yea,and Mike: sometimes hairs will be white while the plant is living, but turn while it’s drying, but when they don’t turn after there picked, then it’s still premature.( in most cases)
Weezer I don’t know for sure But I thought Soma was a group of breeders from S.F That sold strains in Amsterdam.. Sorry My bad, I guess I was misinformed. I would say 2 lbs from any one plant should be considered a GREAT yielder. Never heard of two pounds on a single Sour D plant even outdoors..Good job on that! I am going to take your word for it and say that in the future it’s Pictures Or it didn’t happen! hehe. You can post the pics in the Marijuana Reviews Forums right next to the pics of my current grow!
SOMA may be short for something else, but yes, Soma(owner of soma seeds–anyone familiar with the cannabis cup, may likely know who he is) is a breeder who lives in amsterdam as wheezer said.
Looks sooo dank. man its been a while since ive had sour D here in North Carolina, sure do miss it
Sour Diesel is a very good strain. I have had the opportunity to try this wonderful medicine. All it took was two hits from my 2ft bong to knock me out. Very good Sativa high with the indica come down.
I do have some pics of those plants somewhere. They were on my old computer but I have them on a disc. They didn;t look like they were that big, they were only about 3 1/2 ft. tall and about the same around but I topped them alot and there were literally near a hundred tops on it. 2 pounds a plant outdoors is really not huge but very good. I’ll look for the pics though.
Well, I guess I’m a liar cause those pics were lost when my old pc crashed, but I found my records on it and it wasn’t as heavy as I remember, I got 26 ounces off the one and 23 off the other, so I lied……..sorry.
I was totally joking and in no way calling anybody a liar..Those are both good yields and you should be proud!
I know, but it did make me go looking for the “honest and accurate” info.
i was checking out ur ur sight what real deal on how to get that
every time i see SD it looks diffrent .This looks beautiful though.
mm smokin on sum right now
I’m not the provider of this strain, but I know Sour Diesel, and that’s it. Bubbly, lime green, powdery crystals. Yes, they harvested a bit early…probably could have gone another 2-3 weeks. It looks like an outdoor grow that got pulled early because of the early disastrous rains that hit us in the Santa Cruz Mountains in late October of last year.
To clarify the mention of Sour Diesel being a small producer; it’s not. A little birdy told me that the yields can be quite spectacular!
YO whats up it’s adam from old el paso again well i’ve got me a good bro man i was able to enjoy my 4 20 with some sour diesel, ice cream, casey jones, banna kush,& to top it all off my all time favorite “Violator kush” da bomb
the pine smell is the most distinct thing about sour diesel. reminds you of..the distinct smell of diesel.
mmmmmmmm! how can u go wrong organically growing sour diesel in the mountains!??
My god this amazing. Almost looks like the perfect bud. Just a couple more weeks maybe. Sour diesel is one of my favorites and this is a great example of it.
