After having a few members tell me how much they like Reseda Discount Caregivers in Tarzana I decided to give them a try. Turns out they were right, this is a top notch shop. I had no problem at all finding RDC. Located in a little shopping center about a mile north of the 101 freeway on your right side, directly next door to a discount cigarette shop (go figure), you can’t miss it. There is always plenty of parking and while I have not been at night, the neighborhood feels relatively safe.
The front door and windows are completely blacked out. There is no buzzer at RDC, you just open the door and walk in. Upon entering you walk directly into a holding pen. The pen is much like the pen at other dispensaries, steel cage walls on both sides and a ghetto style steel screen door with a dead bolt in front of you. Every time I have been, the steel screen door has been unlocked and I was able to walk right into the lobby. Reason for this is the armed security guard hawk-eyeing the monitor that is hooked up to the cameras out front. He knows you’re coming before you do.
The lobby is nice. It’s appx. 12×15′ with a big flat screen TV hanging on the wall. Most of the time they are watching cops. Behind a desk normal business style lobby desk is where the computer and security monitors are. My 1st time at RDC there was a girl behind the counter. She took my medical marijuana recommendation and my i.d. and had me approved in about 5 minutes. I have not seen her since.
The last few times I’ve been I just walk right in, hand the security guard my i.d., sign in, get my i.d. back and head right into the medicine room. The medicine room is nice and big with 2 big glass displays that form an “L”. There is also a cooler (maybe 2) that holds all the edibles.
The staff at RDC is really impressive. Not only to they roll deep (more people working behind the counter than any other dispensary I’ve been to), they have knowledge when it comes to their products, which is something I always like. There have been many a time where I have been in a dispensary and another customer will ask a question and the bud tender just says “I don’t know” and I’ll end up helping them out. Not at RDC.
The selection is great. I’d say probably 20+ strains of marijuana, 10+ different concentrates and a ton of edibles. They even sell clones and seeds. Some of the more impressive buds I’ve smoked from RDC are J1 (Jack Herer), OG Herojuana and some great Mango Kush. Reviews of all 3 are coming soon. But for the most part all their medicine is good.
During my most recent trip to RDC I got some rather depressing news. They will no longer be selling any concentrate that requires butane in the production process. No more oil or earwax. I was BUMMED. I had recently got some GDP and Train Wreck earwax that was killer and was looking forward to trying more. They said that because of the way it is made, the Fed’s are now putting them in the same group as heroin and meth. I’ve been aware of steeper penalties if you were caught with hash vs. marijuana for some time now. I am not sure if the laws have changed or if they are now being enforced differently but either way, no more earwax!
I’ll be doing a little research to see if this is something all dispensaries are doing and will let everyone know asap.
Reseda Discount Caregivers is a good ways away from my house. Round trip, without traffic it is about a 2.5 hour drive. So for me to make the trip as often as I do, you can bet they have some good bud. Sitting here writing this I am trying to think of something negative to say and honestly, I can’t. Probably if there was one thing I wish they’d change it is the price of their top shelf bud. Right now nothing is over $65 but I’d like to see them reduce that to $55. But I guess beggars can’t be choosers.
Oh and I got a free gram of some ‘Green Crack’ on my first visit. Can’t forget to mention that. –Chubbs

Pros: Parking, Security, Friendly and knowledgeable staff, huge selection, quality marijuana and hash, Accepts credit cards, ATM

Sounds like a great place.
That really is lame about the butane thing. Kinda messed up that the Feds would do that…
But the place really seems like one of the better places reviewed. Kinda far, but if the bud is that good then why not right?
Nice review.
Two-One: The drive SUCKS but it’s well worth it.
Sounds awesome, Chubbs. I am about to move to Berkeley in less than 3 weeks. I’ll be getting my card in due time. Can’t wait to hit up some dispensaries. I’ll make you some BHO of my own when I get out there, and you can come try REAL high quality concentrates. Only shatter for BHO here, no runny oil.
Soon, my friend, soon.
trikky: Yo I can’t wait. What’s bringing you out here?
what they arent selling hash oil anymore cause of the damn feds. this is bs it makes no sense to classify hash oil in the same catagory as heroin. this country makes no sense when it comes to drug laws.
herbavore: Just playing devil’s advocate here, but the same bud tender that told me that they no longer carry the products also told me that one of the main growers that supplies RDC with herb has major burn scars on most of his body from a BHO accident. I guess there was an explosion that burned up him and his house.
There will always be a place in my heart for RDC. Not only is it one of the closet dispensaries to my location (about a 20-25 minute one way trip) but they have a great, reliable staff, very extensive selection and top notch quality. It is unfortunate to hear they will not be able to sell their butane hash products but hopefully this will lead to someone searching and finding a new and safer way to make premium hash. The only thing I don’t like about RDC is that they don’t have a location in walking distance of my house : P.
Duplicity: You know what they say “necessity is the mother of invention”.
One of the best dispenaries around, im there almost everyday..A+ review.
pura: If I lived closer I probably would be there daily as well.
What do you need to bring with you first time, recommendation, drivers license, and money? Is that it?
qdem7e: Yup, that’s it.
Some dispensaries require you to bring your recommendation on each visit. Others only require you to bring your ID. RDC only requires your ID after the 1st visit.
dude if youve been to amsterdam dont say 65 tops is expensive, come on
Been to a few different shops,No need to look any further after going to rdc…Feels like home. Thanks to all employees there..The golf guy….
Don: Amen!
Great dispensary for sure.
I live in S.B. Co. I heard any product that has butane, alcohol, etc.is out.Hash is ok as long as no additives, but those great bho products the ear waxes, powered toast, sugar trics are out. Also as far as edibiles and FDA many have gone to a nutrition label listing ingredients & caloric values.I heard LEO has to treat hashish & Kief just like greenery.
They told me that they had to stop making the butane hash because of safety issues. I liked the sour deisel full melt they have now tho
RDC is the best. I have been going there for over 2 years and have never left disappointed. I go about once a week and usually purchase an eigth of sour diesel ($45), an eigth of something top shelf ($60), an half gram or two of concentrate ($15 hlf grm – hash, oil, wax, etc), and an edible ($7-10 – brownie, soda, candy, etc).
I have checked the weight of my purchases and its always on or over. The concentrate selection is the best I have ever seen including both top notch and affordable offerings. The Sour Diesel weed ($45) is awesome and is kind of a signature product of this shop. I have bought this strain for 2 years now and it is always in stock and of consistent strength and flavor. I often purchase SD instead of $60 strains.
In any case, try RDC. You will not be disappointed.
@budking: RDC no longer sells oil or wax fyi.
I live down the street from RDC and only just got setup there couple of weeks ago, wish I had found them earlier. Top notch. Of the 4 I go to in the area it is by far my (new) favorite.
@Mephisto.biz: Nice come-up for you!
Nice site…great content…but how are you monotizing it?
@phillipmarlow: I’m not.
MR is one of many sites that I own/run and was started by me as a hobby with no intention on making any $. It quickly took off and is now, imo, the authority on strain information.
That being said, my plan still has not changed. I am going to keep MR nice and clean/ad free.
I know I could easily slap some google ads up or sell a few banner spots and make pretty good $ but that’s not what MR is about.
While yes it is costing me $ to host and run the site but as long as I am having fun doing it I don’t mind spending the money.
chubbs thats why your site rocks no b/s no ads real deal reviews. The fact you don’t get a discount enables fair accurate review. Also never been RDC was told they had $45 cap obviously not
@calikid: Glad you like MR!
Went there for the first time today and agree with everyone that it’s top notch. Great medicine and everyone was really cool and helpful.
But they had almost all their top shelf OG’s (Platinum, White Diamond, Southwest) listed as sativa?
@necros: There is a long running debate on whether real OG is indica or sativa.
For now, do not get Platinum OG (a sativa) confused with Platinum OG Kush (an indica)
If you recall, none of their OG’s that were sativas had the word “Kush” in the name.
I know it’s confusing but it’s how it is.
Good stuff
RDC is awesome!!!! i have been a member of theres for nearly 3 years now, and have never been disapointed. I just found out they opened a sister store down in San Diego.. Same great setup as RDC, but down in SD… I know lots of patients make the drive from SD up to the valley to get meds, so its nice to have valley quality down in SD
hey there im a mmj patient and i was just wondering if this place is as the same to san diego dicount caregivers in san diego of course……just wanted to clarify befor i made the drove.
@snookie: Not 100% sure but I believe it is.
Its pretty safe to say MAKE THE DRIVE ANYWAY who cares who they are sister to they rule and thats all that matters.
Hey ive heard a lot about this place. Does anyone know what they cap at?? I wanna check it out but it looks expensive.
$60 1/8
pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp xD
Only thing I don’t like about Reseda Discount Caregivers is that the medication is already weighed out and in containers. I prefer to see it weighed in front of me. Night time is not the best time due to the area. They do have a killer choice and on 4/20 everything is 50% off!
Its amazing to me how many ways one can go about investing your money. I’ve found for me that best solution is both risky and low risk stocks. I normally put about 1/2 my investments into low risk mutual funds that grow over time plus the other half in high risk high gain stocks. I recently got into day trading and I discovered that software stock picks are the best reliable as they can automate a process that I cant do quickly enough. The blokes over at PrometheusFinancials.Com have a great system. You might want to check them out!
