I am hoping that these Purple Sunrise nugs that Marijuana Reviews member Amanda reviewed actually looked a little more purple in person than they did in these photos.

Looks: The buds were compact and long, tightly drawn in and very dark. They were extremely sticky to the touch, and seriously reminded me of little turds. When I broke apart the nugs themselves, the insides glistened in the light.
Smell: The smell was pungent, rich and almost rotten like old fruit.
Taste: Tastes like peanut butter and bruised apples and is earth and hearty.
Buzz Type: Creeper, heavy and relaxing.
Buzz Length: Long. 3+ Hours.
Overall: I almost decided to pass on Purple Sunrise, to be honest, everything about it was kind of unappetizing. It did not smell delicious, and even it’s looks kind of turned me off as it appeared much more brown under the lights of this dispensary, but I went for it anyway.
Buzz Report: The high from Purple Sunrise was a definite creeper that took me by surprise at how powerful it was. There was a slow, gradual build up and it is easy to smoke yourself stupid with this strain since you don’t realize how high you actually are until it is too late.
However, this weed was so resinous that I spent most of my time unclogging my bong which allowed me to feel the high between each hit.
It was not long before my entire forehead was numb and I wanted to do nothing other than lay down. My mind was completely befuddled and I was glad that I smoked Purple Sunrise at the very end of the day when I had nothing left to do. My body was so completely relaxed that everything I wanted to do was exhausting including watching TV and it was nearly impossible to remain awake an hour into the high.
This is the perfect strain for anyone with severe insomnia, like me. Not only does it relax your body, but it completely stops your mind as well, allowing you to quickly and easily fall into a very deep and restful sleep.
Purple Sunrise felt like and indulgence every time I smoked it, being that it was so hard to gauge how high you were while smoking and sometimes the complete feeling would not hit me until a half an hour after I finished smoking. You know the nap you have to take after Thanksgiving Dinner? That is what this felt like every time. –Amanda

@ vaporizer, I don’t use any lighting when I take my pictures, just sunlight. That’s what they looked like, more brownish than anything else. They were NOT pretty to look at, I really almost didn’t get it based on looks alone.
See how I described them at ‘little turds’? I wasn’t joking about that.
@amanda: I just got some NYSD this afternoon that looks pretty “turdy”.
Smells like good diesel though and was on the “platinum” shelf at LBDQC so we’ll see.
@ Chubbs, this wasn’t top shelf, if it was, I don’t think I would have bought it. I kind of looked at the budtender semi insulted when he showed it to me…
You want me to pay how much for this? But when I got it home it was better looking than I thought and hell, the high was worth it.

I loove bud that surprises you..like this one. Hope to find some up here in the Eastbay Area. I too am a serious insomniac…long for herb that acts like this one.
