well put sir, i’ve smoked weed for 7 years now, (since i was 15), graduated hs with a perfect 4.0 (unweighted, went to private school), got a 33 on my ACT, 2270 on SATs,and a 2-time all-american swimmer my senior year. am now a junior at a private college, still with straight As…just goes to show you smoking pot is just something to make life more enjoyable, not something to ruin lives…wish it was legal tho, could have saved thousands of $$$

People learn through experience. If you have not experienced the effects of marijuana, then you cannot possibly comprehend what it is like. In order to gain a true understanding of cannabis, you must experience it’s effects first hand.
Everyday, thousands of people die from cigarettes, alcohol, and other legal drugs. Throughout history, these legal substances have killed millions. How many people have died from using marijuana? I’m not saying that marijuana is harmless, but it is clearly a much safer alternative.
The fact of the matter is that marijuana is the most widely used illegal substance in the world. Nearly 50% of Americans have admitted to trying pot at least once in their lives. Many cannabis users are successful people who contribute to society in a positive fashion. Some of the greatest U.S. presidents have admitted to smoking marijuana. Thomas Jefferson use to sit on his back terrace and smoke hemp. (He probably just needed some ideas for the Constitution.) Marijuana has many medicinal properties that can be extremely beneficial to people who are unhappy with their currently prescribed medication. Prescription drugs can be very addicting and even lethal, if abused. Providing medical marijuana to those who need it would significantly decrease the number of people who’s lives are destroyed by legal drugs. With so many positives and so few negatives, you would think that using/growing cannabis would be required, not outlawed.
I will live my life the way I want…with freedom and enjoyment.

Marijuana has basically been an on going battle here in the us for ages. Almost every other country has atleast an amount thats legal to be carried on you but yet here we sit one of the strongest and yet dumbest. How cant marijuana help bring us out of this reccesion? There has been no related deaths to marijuan, they have all these so called “risks” and what not but again has anyone ever heard of anyone dying from it? Take alcohol for example. Yeah i love my drinks as much as the next person but look at how many deaths there are form that but yet thats still perfectly legal. Even if you are under age. Smoking tabaco is the worst legal thing for you. It can give you lung cancer, throat cancer, mouth cancer.. Shit you could even end-up with one of those holes in your neck where you would have to cover the s.o.b just to talk and have people actually understand you. But yet marijuana is still illegal.. Why?

Pot was originally made illegal because William Randolf Hearst ran a popular smear campaign against hemp to protect his interests in the lumber industry, and to prevent hemp from becoming a new renewable resource to replace wood, mainly for paper. our government is acting like my 80 year old grandpa. they need to get with the times and start using their heads to think rather then their asses, and maybe light up a dutch themselves.

They need to accept the facts that it is less harmful than alcohol, and you see people wasted on the street everyday. The only reason it is illegal at this point in time is because of political propaganda from years ago. If california legalizes, it will certainly get them out of debt, which hopefully would raise awareness to the rest of the states, to get us out of debt!

If we did legalize marijuana then the economy would suffer.
The jails, police, prosecutors, probation officers and DEA would take a major economic hit (non pun intended.
These organizations depend on people being arrested to pay for annual budgets from us the tax payers. If they stop locking us up they would not have any jobs. Arresting people for drinking alcohol in the 1920’s was America’s best tax generator.
So the government knows that if they legalize weed in any form across the board in all states these agencies that make money from locking us up would suffer great looses because they would not be able to use our justify the use of billions of our tax dollars.
The only way they will make marijuana legal is if people stop using it and then their business model would have to change. We live in communist society that takes all of money and they have to be able to justify or represent why they are taking it so they will continue to make the laws and penalties harder on us so that they can make more money.

DuPont, a company that makes most of our wood-pulp paper created this sturdy string called the nylon. When nylon came out, hemp fiber was the sturdiest in its class, and afterwards as well. Secretary of Treasury in the Hoover administration was part of this company and needed hemp fibers gone to make their maximum profit, so he made it happen by calling the plant a narcotic. i think n8 dog said it best ’smoke weed everyday’

In the time it takes to arrest someone for marijuana, someone somewhere else is being abused, killed, robbed, etc. without justice. Probably in the same neighborhood at that! I would almost bet that once marijuana is one less thing for the legal system to worry about, you’re going to see more people behind bars who actually belong there.

people think badly of marijuana. the truth is. if marijuana was legalized it would jump start the economy out of this depression. it would create millions of jobs and lower unemployment. it would reduce the need for fossil fuels and could replace oil as a renewable energy source effectively slowing the man made effects of global warming. More people are in prison for marijuana offences than all violent crimes. The prisons would be much less populated if we let all the pot smokers free.
people would be much more peaceful aside from every economical social and political benefit of this legalization.

I am a mother of nine beautiful children. A year ago I knew nothing about marajuana except it was illegal and I was against everything that was illegal. We have a son that suffers with bi-polor disease. Watching our son suffer and take harmful drugs that do not work has been heart wrenching. A physician suggested marajuana. We live in an illegal state. Out of desperation our son tried it. Needless to say it has been life changing. He can sleep, his mind doesn’t go 1000 miles an hour. He is not a poster boy for mental illness anymore. He is living with some normal in his life thanks to marajuana. NOBODY is going to deny my child what he needs to survive this horrible disease! He does not abuse and it is taken as needed! Thank you God for giving us a natural means that is helping our son.
The more the government is involved in anything, the more it costs taxpayers. This applies to everything. End mm prohibition and consider the savings from arrest to encarceration to release.

I live in the U.K and smoke weed every fuckin day, have been doing since I was 14, and I still left school at 16 with all my grades I needed, if anything it helps man, it really does. Just chills you out and gets you ready for your day. I honestly cant wait until one day a fellow smoker gets into politics and becomes the prime minister, it would be incredible, if it was to happen in the U.S first then you could expect a huge number of the British population to be flying your way! The government has no idea how much money could be pumped into the economy through it, and maybe toking would chill them the fuck out and stop all this war shit thats happening.
