I am not going to lie, I am a Illadelph fanboy. I got this ash catcher about a month ago and am so far completely satisfied with it. The craftsmanship is top notch. I have yet to find a single thing I don’t love about it. Each cut in the 4 arm tree percolated ash catcher is smooth and precise. It’s obvious that this piece was was blown by a master tradesman.
The ash catcher comes in 3 parts, a removable 4 arm tree percolator, the ash catcher base, and a large keck clip (k-clip).
As far as ash catchers go, I couldn’t ask for more. This thing does everything you could hope for and more. Tons of added diffusion and not a single flake of ash has made it into the bong reservoir. Other than the astronomical price, there is really no downside to this ash catcher. If you are looking for the best and have a few extra bucks to spend, this is the ash catcher for you. –drewzilla484

Sorry Trikky, but I’m going to have to disagree 100%, I’ve used this thing daily for a while now and not myself nor anyone else has drawn water from the AC into the tube. Even with really hard hits it’s rare for even a drop of water to splash into the second compartment. Maybe you’re thinking of the other style of Illadelph ash catchers or the older style of this model, which is one piece I believe.
While yes it is expensive, I have a feeling you get what you pay for.
I know for a fact that those a/cs spill back into the tube when cleared hard. I don’t understand how you can give it an A+.
And for almost $300?? Wow.
What grade would you give it?

From the look of this particular ashcatcher, the craftsmanship looks like about an “A-”.
Functionality I’d put at a “B”.
There really needs to be both of those components in a good review of glass.
Well Trikky if you say so I don’t mind if Chubbs wants to change the grade on that. I really feel like you just hate on illadelph because they don’t use thick enough glass for the base of their water pipes. I do agree with you on that, they’re far to thin, but I think the functionality is top notch. I know exactly what you’re talking about with other models of the ash catcher allowing water to be pulled up thru the downstem and into the pipe, but it just doesn’t happen with this model.
You can say what you will about the craftsmanship, but when it comes to functionality… well, it’s first and foremost an ashcatcher, and it does a perfect job of that. It’s also got a 4 arm tree perc, who doesn’t want more diffusion with minimal added drag? I just disagree with you on the functionality side. This thing does everything it should and more, how is that not an A+ piece?

do you know the thickness of the standard blue label illadelph single tree percolated ashcatcher?
The thickness of the glass is probably somewhere between 1mm and 2mm, and the “arms” of the trees are usually 3mm glass.
I just broke the bowl on my brand new straight tube illadelph and was looking at gettin an ashcatcher similar to yours. where did you buy it.

It looks nice with the diffusers but kind of pointless with the plastic shit on it, on top of that the functionality is shitty you will have basically a bad clogged up diffuser that is damn near impossible to clean, a nice 20-45 dollar local ash catcher is more practical and easier use. It would be more important to have a diffuser as the drop stem or in the percolators. otherwise i would give it a c+ at best.

it’s diffused in both the downstem, and all 4 arms of the perc. the “plastic shit on it” is a k-clip, please read about them before calling them useless. and third, the ashcatcher is still in brand new condition, i’m not sure if you’re aware but cleaning glass is quite simple.
@drewzilla: I have a feeling he is only familiar with the illadelph ash catcher like I ahve that does not have the removable down stem.

Have you tried grunge off? it’s great for them. just seat the AC in your tube and fill with grunge off. should come out sparkling clean!
Firstly i have the camouflage series(7mm) and the base of the beaker is at least 5mm-7mm thick so i dont know what people are saying about the base being thin, second of all cleaning both the old and especially new style ashcatchers is super easy and they come spotless in minutes with agent orange/420/grunge off cleaners, plus arent there some new little pipe scrubber balls that work super well ive been hearing about? Lastly water never goes passed either of mine unless they are WAY overfilled. Who makes up this trash neways?
Ohh sorry for double post but the guy at their hollywood store told me they are making one with a ring at the bottom of the trees that will be inline, looking forward to seeing those around..

I need a little help. My mother left me a bamboo steamroller that she got from Daryl in San Francisco park. He made pipes for the Dead, and just about everyone else. He numbered his pipes, I have #5483 and it has carved on it “America, the Police State”. The last time I saw Daryl was about 17 years ago. Does anyone know if he is still around, what number is he on, and how I could get a new pipe? Nothing wrong with the old one but I do need a new one to leave to my daughter. Any one have an answer? hey i have a question for you i recently purchased a illadelph ashcatcher its the newer style with the splashcatcher its similar to yours its just got a 3rd section blown into it but i was wondering what size is your downsteam going into your ashcatcher? i didnt know they made a downsteam with 4 diffused percs

I like the functionality of the the circulator a/c, but does the new a/c from Illy look as cool when it is filled with smoke? The new chambers are smaller, which makes me think it would not look as cool. I do like the idea of them adding that third chamber.
BTW, Illy now sells a/c’s w/o the downstem. The stackable a/c’s have no downstem.
If you are willing to drop upwards of 300 bucks on an Illadelph ashcatcher you should really invest in the Circulator rather than the multi-arm downstem. The multi-arm is notorious for easily pulling water into the main champer on the clear. The illadelph removable circulator ashcatcher doesnt pull water nearly as bad for the same price. Plus its much easier to break that multi-arm than the circulator. The new standard illadelph ashcatcher (with the 3 chambers) is dope cuz it has an upstem in the last chamber.Plus the downstem is now removable. BTW Illadelph ashcatchers suck because they insist on attaching a shittily diffused downstem to be you main downstem into the base of your tube. What if I have a dope solid worked shower cap downstem. Guess im beat.
