In Amsterdam, you do a whole lot of walking. And from time to time you come across the random coffee shop. While it may not have been on the official 2008 Cannabis Cup tour, I had heard of Dutch Flowers in the past. So when we happened upon it while looking for De Tweede Kamer, I had to go in and grab some herb.
I have a feeling the reason that Dutch Flowers does not participate in the Cannabis Cup is because they are not too fond of Americans. Prior to leaving for Amsterdam I had read a couple horror stories about Americans pretty much being run out of the shop for not buying anything other than weed. So going in I was a little more "observant" than I’d normally be.
Located on the corner of a pretty busy street and a small alley, I don’t think they need the extra business from The Cup as bad as some of the other coffee shops do.The interior of the shop is pretty good size with tables and chairs and a couple bar stools. Probably enough seating for 30 people comfortably. I definitely felt a very heavy "locals only" vibe when I walked in. One thing I really like was the big sign that hung on the wall reading "We only smoke pure here". Apparently you are not allowed to roll mixed joints like you can at a good number of other shops.

I walked up to the counter knowing that I was going to order a gram of Silver Pearl and a gram of their strongest indica. I had smoked some Silver Pearl years back and loved it. And it turns out their strongest indica was some pretty dry, yet stoney Orange Bud. As planned I grabbed a gram of each and hit the road. I had no desire to kick back and blaze here. Besides, De Tweede Kamer is like 10 seconds walk down the alley.
Both the Orange Bud and the Silver Pearl turned out to be killer. While I have a complaint or 2 about the vibe in Dutch Flowers, I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of their marijuana. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, I recommend you try the Silver Pearl, it’s delicious! –Chubbs

I went to DF first thing in the morning the day after the 2008 Cup. I had heard negative things about the vibe and the guy hating Americans, but I didn’t remember it being this shop.
I looked a pot menu and picked out a strain I wanted to try and ordered a pre-rolled and said, “And I think I’d also like a cup of coffee, if you have it.” (There were no coffee cups, machines or other apparatus in plain view.)
The guy then got really nasty. “Oh, you THINK you’d like a cup of coffee?!? What ever happened to the word please? Don’t you know how to ask for something politely?”
“Ok…”, I said. “Let me start over. May I please get a pre-rolled and a cup of coffee?”
“There. Was that SO HARD?” and he roughly threw a fat pre-rolled on the bar and started angrily making a cup of coffee.
I sat down, away from him, and lit up my pre-rolled, which despite their proclamation on the door of “We only serve pure”, it was mostly tobacco. I had ordered a Silver Pearl, which I’d heard was very good, and smoked the whole thing while drinking my coffee. With barely a light buzz when I finished, I walked out the door and down to the much friendlier De Tweede Kamer and had a very nice, pure pre-rolled of LA Confidential.
I will be back in the Dam in June and will absolutely never set foot in Dutch Flowers again. I’m sure that’s just the way that dickhead wants it, too.

Yes the Silver Pearl is bomb, but De Tweede Kamer has much better bud imo.

Hi, I was in Amsterdam some days ago and I can tell that this is the best coffeshop, best atmosphere, quite relaxing, and great weed. You people MUST try the Vanilla Queen, you can only get it in this store. Good luck and enjoint it!
Visited DF a couple weeks ago. Found the staff to be extreamly friendly and helpful. Tried the Cheese and wow what good smoke. Better than anything I have smoked living British Columbia Canada! I will be back, great shop. If you can get the table by the window the view id great over looking the canal
We get something that looks like this bud in my area (northeast US) from a questionable source. It goes for about $60 a quarter, and looks great (if a bit moist), almost identical to the orange buds on this page… there has recently been debate as to whether these buds are actually marijuana, because they aren’t very good, in fact they seem much harsher than any bud I’ve had; wondering…does anyone know of a marijuana look-a-like that looks similar to this and might be passed off as real weed? I don’t think its K2, but then I’ve only seen K2 on the internet, and at the price it goes for its unlikely. Could it be just homegrown bud that looks good but barely gets you high? Or are we being scammed?
Dutch flowers vibe is not that bad, these are the type of coffee shop that an older crowd would prefer. Experienced amsterdam goers know that dutch flowers is the real deal holyfield. (De tweede is pretty good too)
