While it can be a bit difficult to locate, coffee shop De Tweede Kamer which translates to "second room" in Dutch, is one of my personal favorites. Situated in an alley way between 2 busy streets, you really need to keep your eyes open when trying to find this place. But trust me, once you do, you’ll see why it was worth the journey.
De Tweede Kamer is very popular with locals and connoisseur’s who appreciate a nice quiet spot to chill and smoke some of the best quality marijuana and hash that you will find in all of Amsterdam. Not very big at all there is room for about 15 people to sit comfortably. Being so small there is a very "homey" feel that hits you right when you walk in. Located in the back of the shop is the bar.
I walked up to the bar and was handed a menu that listed such strains as L.A. Confidential, Grape, and Jack Herer. One unique thing about De Tweede Kamer’s menu is that is lists the type of buzz you can expect to feel. The picture below is the best I could do. It was pretty dark inside and I had to use my flash.

On my first visit to De Tweede, I was there solely to pick up some of their Cannabis Cup entry called L.A. Confidential. I walked up to the counter and asked for a gram of their "cup bud". The guy working there broke out with a big container that had about an ounce of choice nugs in it. One very cool thing about De Tweede Kamer is that when the bar tender hands you a bud to look at, he hits a switch with his foot and a spotlight right above the bar lights up and you can see every trichome on every bud. It’s very convenient.
After seeing the L.A. Confidential under lights, I decided to double my order and go with 2 grams, the max you are allowed to buy of this bud at one time. This stuff was GREAT. Back home we call bud like this "Christmas Tree Bud" because of the overpowering pine smell.
With my purchase complete I sat down at the table my wife had grabbed. It was a little 2 seater table that faced one of the windows looking outside. I will never forget sitting there rolling up a couple fatty’s when it started to snow outside. It was like something out of a movie. Big giant snowflakes falling in the alley right in front of us. Every so often a customer would walk in and a rush of cold air would blow through the shop.

Hanging out at De Tweede Kamer again is something I am already looking forward to. The next time I am in Amsterdam it is definitely going to be the first coffee shop I hit up. With it’s wood paneling, just a few booths and a couple tables, quality selection and friendly staff, De Tweede Kamer is my personal favorite coffee shop in Amsterdam. –Chubbs
Grade: A+
Pros: High Quality Weed And Hash, Incredible Selection, Friendly Staff, Cozy Feeling
Cons: Size (Can get crowded), No Credit Cards, No ATM
Weed Map:

You said earlier in another review of a place that they don’t accept CC’s and don’t have ATMs. Does this go for most coffee shops there?
This place sounds nice, and the light thingy they had is pretty awesome and a nice idea. The grape bud looks good to me.
Unfortunately yes, I don’t think many, if any shops accept credit cards.
The Grape bud smelled so damn good!
Only 1 accepts CC and thats the Greenhouse (small one) so i think you should not add that in every review about dutch coffeeshops. because its not allowed by the dutch banks usually.
Anyway im dutch, amsterdam my hometown. and if you want the best of the best. De Tweede Kamer is it. it is indeed small, but the weed are only the best of the best!
so if you in a’dam! be sure to check it out.
oh and btw, De Tweede Kamer means “The Second Chamber” wich is like what the parlement building is called in the netherlands, like all gov. officials meet there. like Washington DC in the US.
and Chubbs, your not the only one that heads there first, everytime i land on schiphol airport i head to that coffeeshop first.
also one i really recommend is the G13 Haze, but watch out, because many of you guys ofcourse don’t mix it with tobacco like we do… it will kill you (not litterally, but you know what i mean)
And that L.A Confidential, since last summer you cannot smoke tobacco in that coffeeshop anymore, so i rolled one pure, not big at all… and man, amsterdam was my hometown, but i kinda lost the way there. but that might also have been because i came from the tropics with 90F or hotter lol and then into the cold amsterdam in 1 tshirt and 1 jacket. and a 10hr flight lol so it crushed me.
anyway, i talk to much when im high. point is. BEST coffeeshop! GO there!
cheers!
Great water works hash too!!! Love that shop!
Hey dude if you ever go back just ASK for a menu, they’ll give you one if you’re cool about it.
to answer two-one’s question, there is a ATM/Bank 1 block around the corner from De Tweede Kamer.
I’m off to the Dam next month (Oct 2009) and my hotel is just down the road on Spuistraat, can anyone recommend any particularly good buds – I’ve read so many reviews on Tweede Kamer (all of them good) but I’m confused by the sheer choice. So far I think I’m gonna try the following in no particular order: LA Confidential, Jack Herer and Cheese.
best coffeeshop in Amsterdam that is for sure. Cheese is amazing at the moment.
