A bonus review to tide you over till Wednesday – today’s my birthday!

This is the first review from longtime member IE420Patient.  I had the pleasure of meeting him at the THC Expo earlier this year.  I have to say, it makes me all warm and fuzzy when I meet members and know that this little site has grown by leaps and bounds with such great reviews and membership….oh wait, I think the fuzzy part came from my medicine….

Name: Asteroid

From: Apothecary 420 (Dispensary – Los Angeles)

Grade: A+

Type: Indica

Price: $35/gram, $110/8th – YES, IT’S EXPENSIVE!

Looks: Very tight and dense buds.  So dense, you think you were shorted.  Light/medium green bud with “orange” hairs fully covered in trichs.

Smell: Very strong and stinky (but a good stink).  Two air tight containers can’t keep the smell away!  An earthy “green” smell…very minty with a hint of menthol.

Taste: Very smooth and on the floral side.  A little bit of piney after taste.

Buzz Type: “Out of this World” as Apothecary 420 claims.  Felt the buzz begin before the exhale.  Started off with the head feeling a bit heavy and a squint in the eyes and then about 10-15 minutes later my whole body was in check.  The strength of the high evenly progressed from first hit to 15 minutes in. 

Although classified as indica, for me this bud also had some sativa qualities – had a really good head and body tingle going on.  In short, this buzz is hella cool.  A great way to end the day.

Buzz Length: A good 1.5 to 2 hours.  These buds were so tight and potent that I barely broke off a piece for my bong (maybe the size of a small marble).  I was able to get THREE good solid bong rips off this small amount.

Overall: If you want to splurge or cost is not an issue this is some damn good indica.  What I do like with this is that you don’t have to smoke much.  With other strains, I would most likely smoke 2 to 3 times as much. 

This is up there as one of the best indica buzzes I’ve had.  One small bowl and I am good!  You feel good, ultra chill and mellow but I did not get couch locked.  It’s almost as if this bud takes you just shy to the point of being couch locked and keeps you there for a while – for me that means one damn good “high”.

Side Note: We all know Apothecary 420 is expensive but, damn…this is some seriously good medical marijuana.  Asteroid is the most expensive on the menu and is to be exclusive to Apothecary 420 per their blog.  The posted in-dispensary prices are credit card prices.  If you pay cash, they will usually lower the price $5-10 (I always pay cash).  Also, save your receipts and take advantage of their Rewards Program.  In part, why I bought this high cost strain was because I got $40 off bringing in my last 7 receipts.  -IE420Patient

Grade: A (Maybe an A+, but I’m sure it doesn’t stack up to some of the other A+ stuff on Marijuana Reviews.)

Type: Sativa

Price: $60/8th

Looks: Immaculate.  The bud matter has lime green, forest green and deep purple coloration and crawls with long, neon-orange hairs.  It is covered in stout, bulbous trichomes that frost it densely and evenly.

Smell: This bud has an overwhelming citrus odor.  A whiff of the bud renders a pure, lemony scent but the mason jar that I keep it in has an unmistakable and powerful grapefruit odor.

Taste: Tangy, with a sweet hint of fuel.  The smoke is thick and hot, fairly cough-inducing.

Buzz Type: An energetic, focused sativa head high with an exceptionally comfortable and relaxed feel.  Not trippy at all, as some strong sativas are; actually, the buzz was very sedate and indica-like, but it was very clear and euphoric.

Buzz Length: Very long, maybe the longest I have ever experienced.  As a light smoker, I was high for 3.5 hours on .6 grams (I was hitting a jay with another head) before I decided to go to sleep – and at that point I was still quite euphoric.  I imagine it would keep most patients medicated for at least 2 hours, if not longer.

Overall: In my personal opinion, this California-grown Maui Wowee provides an ideal high.  As someone who tends to favor indica strains, this bud kept me feeling an intense head buzz without that paranoia or hallucination that distracts me from enjoying most powerful sativas.  I thoroughly enjoyed this cannabis and it ranks with the best that I’ve come across in my encounters with private dealers.  -Bodhiless

Name: Sour Diesel

Type: Sativa

Price: $22/gram

Looks: Very nice.  Nicely dusted with trichs and a few orange hairs as well.

Smell: Skunky and sour.  Very, very nice.

Taste: It had an incredibly familiar sour taste to it.  I can’t quite place my finger on it.  Very nice though.

Buzz Type: Very high.  Everything is somewhat dreamlike but you’re not mentally clouded.  There’s just a hint of heaviness.

Buzz Length: Moderate.  Couple of hours on a decent bowl.

Overall: The smoke is incredibly smooth.  Huge, thick hits without any coughing.  A couple of bucks more than most of my usual strains, but I’ll buy again.

Buzz Report: This one was a bit of a creeper.  Had light sensations after I was done smoking but it felt very weak.  A few minutes later, as I was cursing the dispensary for selling me bunk, it started to hit me.  I was extremely pleased with it.  Slight paranoia, but nothing too bad.  This is a very nice strain and it seems as though I got another great hit from the Herbal Discount Center in Long Beach.

Looks: Dark green, with deep purple throughout.  Covered in trichomes.

Smell: Super sweet, almost like raspberries.

Taste: Very sweet and very fruity.

Buzz Type: Medium.  The buzz creeps from a light laughy head high into a body high that pins you to the couch.

Buzz Length: Long.  After two blunts and a few bong loads of Amethyst, I was high for over two hours.

Overall: A great strain that both looks and tastes great and is worth every penny.

Buzz Report: I bought four grams of Amethyst and rolled two blunts.  As soon as I took the first hit, I knew this bud was going to screw me up.  I was high from the blunts for about two hours.  As I was coming down, I decided to have a couple of bowls in the vaporizer.  If you are looking for the best way to smoke this, I would highly recommend using a vaporizer.  If you have a chance to get this bud, get it.  -mbreezy420

Looks: Intimidating.  When I first saw this bud, I knew I was in for a crazy time.  Dark, dark green bud covered in dark hairs and coated with a nice frosting of trichs.

Smell: Powerful!  The smell hit the room before I even saw it.  That signature kush smell combined with something that I can only describe as musky potent.

Taste: Delicious.  Purest tasting kush I have ever had, all I tasted was kush.  No fruit, no hash, just pure kush.  I happen to prefer kush in the grand strain of things, and this OG was the perfect taste delight for my kush-loving palette.

Buzz Type: Knock-your-f***ing-socks-off.  I enjoyed my last 420 with a half pound of this.  By nights end, the bag was not even half empty although I had smoked with over twenty different circles.  I was so high I fell asleep sitting on a couch with bong in lap and awoke not knowing where I was in the morning.  No joke.

Buzz Length: Long.  A nice 2-3 hours of utter devastation awaits ye who smoketh the OG.  I could not smoke this bud in the morning.  It would give me incredible lethargy for the rest of the day.

Overall: Truly amazing nuggets.  Just about the best I have come across.  I have had various other types of OG Kush since then, but this one was the very first and very best.  My only complaint about this weed is that it might be too strong. 

At the time I got this, I also had a personal head stash of about four or five other strains, and I remember I would find myself actually opting not to smoke the OG and instead another, weaker, strain because I did not want to experience the devastatingly potent effects.  But I would always smoke the OG at night before bed and then pass out on a wave of pure relaxation.

Conclusion: OG Kush, a strain that has as much hype and talk around it as any other.  Believe the hype, believe that you will be severely couch-locked if not borderline catatonic, believe in OG Kush.

Looks: Hard, thick and rotund olive green buds that are encrusted with resin.

Smell: Funky garlic, pepper and cheese.

Taste: Very much like the smell.  Yum.

Buzz Type: Narcotic and debilitating.

Buzz Length: Very long 3+ hours.  I almost always end up falling asleep before that though.

Overall: Hammerhead produces an immediate and incredibly strong stone that never fails to render me in a serene stupor.  Its aroma and effects are very similar to a Hogsbreath phenotype I tried a few years ago.  I’m very fond of genetics like this and am eager to encounter more.  -Melitta Toppits

Looks: Spear shaped, lime green buds with the odd purple tinge and a tacky layer of resin.

Smell: Fresh blueberries and acrid pineapple.  Very fragrant when prepared and different tasting than other blueberry varieties I’ve encountered.

Taste: Delicious and smooth, the smell is very similar to the flavor.

Buzz Type: Content, relaxed and euphoric.  Mostly indica buzz that eventually becomes very sedative if not used with caution.

Buzz Length: Very long.

Overall: This is a fantastic representation of a solid blueberry strain and at $200/oz you can’t go wrong.  This is a great strain for balancing out the more intense and spacey sativas like Jack Herer and Isis.  -Melitta Toppits

Smell: Sweet, yet a bit earthy, like incense.

Taste: Feel it more on your lungs than on your tongue.  Any taste can just be described as very “clean”.

Buzz Type: Adds that extra kick to any bowl.  Very euphoric and visual, despite its origin.

Buzz Length: 2 hours.

Overall: Throw some of this on any bowl and it’s like icing on a cupcake, just make it that much better.  Nice to have around.  -ogspliff

Looks: A little bit of a darker green but a lot of light red/orange hairs.

Smell: Strawberries mixed with skunk.

Taste: Strong thick smoke tastes like strawberries and makes you cough like crazy.

Buzz Type: Just blows you out until every part of you is high as hell.  Best high I’ve had in a while.

Buzz Length: 2-3 hours.

Overall: This bud smokes ridiculously well.  I’ve never enjoyed smoking a bud this much.  As soon as I lit it up I fell in love with Strawberry Cough.  -Michiganfinest
