A while back I had the idea of starting a medical marijuana delivery service in Orange County California called NUGGETRY.

After a great deal of planning, some serious blood, sweat and tears as well as a little luck, NUGGETRY took off and very quickly the name became synonymous with KILLER bud.

Right about the time I was planning on expanding the NUGGETRY delivery service in Orange County my friend Nuggs (F.K.A. MJBoy) from HydroCanna.com contacted me with an idea he had for a storefront collective in San Diego.

I won’t bore you with all the legal details and the red tape we had to deal with/hash out, but to make a long story short he and I sat down and in 1 afternoon I decided to temporarily stop deliveries in Orange County and NUGGETRY SD was born.

What he and I have created is hands down the most popular and fastest growing medical marijuana dispensary (legally we are a collective) in San Diego.

Located just minutes from San Diego State University in E. San Diego (on University Ave, just east of College St.), NUGGETRY SD has set the bar, and set it sky high (no pun).

We can be a little hard to find on your first visit as the building we are in used to be a house at one time back in the day. It was then converted into a doctor’s office and then a real estate office.

Parking is a breeze with a spot right out front on the street available most of the time.

So from the front all you really see is a cool looking white house with a yard and a sign in front that reads “Tri Palms Properties” (there are 3 palm trees out front). We had thought about painting the front or adding a new sign but decided against it. Once you find us that 1st time, trust me you won’t ever have a problem again.

Walking up to the front door the first thing you can’t help but notice is there are cameras everywhere. We spared no expense when it came to security and put cameras up all over that even record audio.

You can’t get anywhere near NUGGETRY SD without us seeing/hearing you coming.

Once at the front door there is a little doorbell you ring and viola, you are immediately greeted by one of the 3 girls we have that run the front office.

Kate, Sami or Mindi will let you into our incredibly comfortable lobby which at one time was the living room of the house.

The NUGGETRY SD lobby is huge with hard wood floors, a big L-shaped desk, a bunch of chairs, a water cooler and a big fireplace that we are looking forward to using this winter.

Verification is a snap. Gone are the days of waiting forever for some uneducated receptionist to figure out how to get you verified.

We have taken the time to make sure that all 3 of our girls know the verification process inside and out. And should you be one of the small percentage of people that have a county card instead of a paper medical marijuana recommendation, that’s fine. We know our stuff.

Once verified, you are led into the bud room which is attached to the main lobby via a very secure door.

The bud room is just as nice, if not nicer than the lobby.

One of the first things that catches your eye is the giant flat screen on the wall being used as a menu board. Very clean indeed.

We had thought about going the traditional whiteboard but they tend to look a little sloppy.

Our selection of top quality meds are conveniently displayed in glass jars that we keep inside and on top of 4 foot wide glass display cases.

Nothing is pre-weighed. (Actually our hash is pre weighed just because it takes forever to weigh up)

We make sure to always have the magnifying glasses plugged in for the extra thorough patients.

As you are facing the display cases, off to your right is a metal rack with 3 shelves where we keep clones and mother plants.

The quality of our babies is just as high as the quality of our meds.

With the recent addition of Dre, we now have 2 budtenders at NUGGETRY SD.

Zango, who is what I like to call our budmaster has been with us since day 1 and knows just about all there is to know about the different strains of medical marijuana. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

While it’s not the norm, from time to time we like to treat our members to something a little special.

Recently I decided to roll up a GIANT joint. In another post I will go over the entire process but for now take a look at a couple pics of the beast.

The above fatty consisted of a bunch of Fallbrook with some Blueberry and a bunch of kief from our house grinder packed in the end we lit.

In addition to everything I have already mentioned, at NUGGETRY SD we have a couple things the I believe really set us apart from the other medical marijuana collectives in San Diego.

Every Saturday at 1:00pm we have a free medical marijuana cultivation class that has over the last few weeks become very popular.

My partner Nuggs has done an excellent job of putting together an hour long class (sometimes it runs a little longer) that is both informative and fun at the same time.

The classes are held in one of our extra rooms and usually ends with a fat session in our soon to be complete VIP vapor lounge. And by VIP I just mean people that we are comfortable with medicating on our property.

We have a great selection of glass pieces for patients to use in the vapor lounge and if you need a little help rolling a joint or cleaning a piece, just let us know and we’ll take care of you.

Oh yeah, there is an Xbox 360 hooked up to a 42″ flat screen for those gamers that want to chill for a few as well as a laptop with Wi-Fi access as well.

All-in-all I have to say, and not just because I am one of the owners that NUGGETRY SD is probably one of the best medical marijuana collectives in the state.

We not only have a safe, clean, convenient location but also have one of the kindest and most knowledgeable staffs in the industry.

Our meds are always top notch and it is VERY rare for us to have less than 10 strains available and usually have 15-25.

As far as prices, we have 1/8’s of Mango, Blueberry and L.A. Kush right now for $40 and our best Chunkle nugs will cost you $65.

For the most part the majority of our bud like the 619 NUGGETRY OG, Green Crack, Casey Jones etc. go for $60 an 1/8th.

Two things, A) I know the picture of Green Angel’s storefront sucks. I was sitting in my car in the middle of PCH on a beautiful sunny day. It was hectic. Hopefully next time I go I can take my camera in and they’ll let me snap a picture or 2 of the green room, or maybe just the vapor room. We’ll see.

B) I don’t normally run home and write/publish a review but I feel like this is as much a public service announcement as it is a review. Southern California medical marijuana patients need to know about this place (unless you already do)

I can sum up my entire experience at Green Angel of Malibu yesterday in 3 words, “Class Act”.

Let me rewind a bit and give you the entire experience.

Living where I live in Orange County it’s about a 45 minute – 1 hour drive to Malibu with no traffic. Now if you know anything about the 405 freeway you know that the chances of there being no traffic are slim and none. But somehow yesterday the herb gods were with me and after leaving my house at noon, I found myself at the end of the 10 freeway in Santa Monica in about 45 minutes.

The drive from the end of the 10 freeway down PCH through Santa Monica is killer. You have the ocean on one side and cliffs and big mansions on the other. Much nicer drive than fighting my way through the Sepulveda pass.

Since this was my first time visiting Green Angel I did not really know exactly where they were and where I was going to park. It was a beautiful day yesterday and traffic on PCH was pretty heavy. I ended up driving right past the building and had to turn around and make my way back. Once I got it dialed in and figured out where they were things got much easier.

Green Angel is located in a building with a bunch of other offices and there is a nice size parking lot on the side and in the back. I pulled into one of the spots in the back and made my way to the front of the building via an outdoor hallway. Two steps into the hallway I recognized the oh so familiar scent of kind weed.

Suite 100 is located towards the front of the building. There is a buzzer you press when you walk up to the door and an attendant lets you in. The girl that let me in was also working the front desk. She took my ID and my medical marijuana recommendation and had me verified in minutes. Quick and painless which I like.

I walked out of the very comfortable lobby, around the corner expecting a door to the medicine room and instead found myself standing right in front of the display counter. Behind it was a menu that listed 50 or so strains that went from $40-60.

The budtender “Winston” introduced himself. I told him I was there for the first time and had heard good things about their “91″ strains. He proceeded to show me an 1/8th of 7 or 8 different REALLY good strains.

This place is TOP NOTCH. And I say that having visited a whole bunch of dispensaries. I felt that I was in a very safe, very comfortable setting with people who knew there bud and had one of the best selections I have ever seen. And by best I don’t just mean quantity, I am talking about some seriously high quality.

After inspecting many of their top shelf strains under a giant magnifying glass I decided to go with an 1/8th of Maliblu Dream (Blue Dream) and and 1/8th of some 91 Malibu Fire. I also picked up a 1/2 gram of some Delta 9 and a half gram of Red Amber Glass, both of which are some incredible scary looking concentrates. Reviews coming soon.

Let me tell you, usually when I hit a dispensary and ask to see the best or most popular bud on the menu the budtender breaks out 2 or 3 strains and brags about how they are better than the rest. At Green Angel I really felt like there was a solid 7 or 8 strains minimum (probably more like 10-15) that I could of walked out with. This place is STOCKED.

When I dumped my 1/8th of Blue Dream onto the glass counter top I immediately noticed and commented on how it looked a lot different that the Blue Dream that I recently got from another dispensary. Winston did not miss a beat and said “this is how it’s suppose to look” with all the confidence in the world. And to be honest after smoking some I believe him.

I am not kidding when I tell you that he had 1/8’s of all kinds of fire for me to look at. Some 91 Chem Dawg that stunk up my nostrils, maybe permanently.

After having picked my 2 strains and asking Winston to see some of their best concentrates, he walked over to the freezer and grabbed a few glass vials of different high quality hash’s. I went with some Delta 9 which looked like some caramelized sugar and some Red Amber Glass that looked like just that, red, amber glass. This Red Amber Glass looks much different that the Amber Glass I have had in the past.

I could not have been happier with either the service from Winston the budtender of the quality of the marijuana and hash I got.

After making my purchase I made my way to their vapor room which was appropriately as stocked at their medicine room. I don’t remember seeing a vaporizer but that is only because I was mesmerized by the selection of glass pieces on the coffee table. The room has 2 big couches, a coffee table between them and a big salt water aquarium at the back of the room. Very cool, very comfortable lounge vibe.

One thing I thought was funny is how they have the BIC lighters chained to the coffee table like pens at the bank.

I sat down an began to break up some Blue Dream. I grabbed a sick 3 chamber piece that had crystal clear water in it and proceeded to wipe down the mouth piece with one of the alcohol swabs they provide. There is a big bowl of individually wrapped swabs on the table along with a roll of paper towels. Kind of felt like I was at a good BBQ joint.

As I was packing my bowl another guy came in and packed a quick bowl, snapped it and bailed. I tried lighting my bowl and the lighter on my side was dead. Winston magically appeared with a fresh lighter and swapped it out. I ripped some Blue Dream but did not get the full effect as the bowl I was using was a bit clogged. I mentioned this to Winston and he immediately took the bowl and went to clean it.

As I was waiting for him another patron came in and sat down. This guy was much more friendly than the first. He said that he had been coming to Green Angel for a while and has never been served anything but the best, most high quality herb. He had just picked up an 1/8th of some CRAZY looking White Shark for $40.

Winston came back with a nice clean bowl for me along with a little bud of some Pure Kush that they recently sold out of. I snapped it and then some of the 91 Malibu Fire. I was feeling great when somehow some of the White Shark made it’s way into the bong I was using so I hit that as well.

Needless to say when I left Green Angel of Malibu I was very satisfied with the entire experience and was well medicated.   –Chubbs

While planning my trip up to San Francisco to see Cypress Hill on 4/20 I obviously needed to figure out which dispensaries to hit up. I narrowed the list down to 3, Harborside which is in Oakland and 2 others that were in SF. Since I was flying into Oakland I decided to hit Harborside 1st and boy am I glad I did.

I flew in on 4/19 in anticipation of the holiday. I wanted to “stock up” the day before so I was ready to go bright and early on 4/20. My buddy picked me up from the airport in Oakland and we drove straight to Harborside Health Center. We had a bit of a hard time finding the place but that’s normal for my friend, he struggles a bit behind the wheel.

We arrived at Harborside which is pretty much right on the water about 20 minutes before they opened and to no surprise there was already about 30-40 people in line waiting to get in.

Fortunately they have a HUGE parking lot an we were able to roll right in and grab a spot. My buddy does not have a medical marijuana recommendation so he had to wait in the car which they were cool with.

I hopped out and went and got in line. 1 of the 3 security guards working the parking lot/line noticed I was holding my recommendation and asked if I was a 1st time patient. I said yes and was immediately escorted to the front of the line and within minutes was inside the lobby waiting to be admitted. The lobby was nothing special, just an area of the main building, which is huge by the way, kind of sectioned off. There is a door to the admitting office here as well.

As I was sitting in the lobby one of the girls that works there approached me and asked if she could give me the tour. This place is by far the biggest, most well organized and professional medical marijuana dispensary I have been to so far. The offer all kinds of massage and therapeutic classes and even have a room for grow seminars.

The clone area alone is as big as some entire dispensaries here in SoCal and reminded me of the garden department at Home Depot. This place was stocked!

After my tour I was escorted to the admitting office and verified in minutes. The entire process was pretty quick and painless.

Don’t let the above picture fool you, this place is busy all day every day. While they do have different stations to help customers, each station has the same marijuana, concentrates and edibles available. And as you would imagine, the selection is top notch. Not only do they have a ton of bud to choose from, but they actually send a sample of each strain they sell out to be scientifically tested so they can provide customers the actual thc level. Also the top shelf offerings come in cool glass jars which I really liked.

I’d say in total Harborside Health Center had 25+ strains to choose from with 5 of those being top shelf (True Blueberry x OG Kush, Chemdawg D, Chemdawg 4, Casey Jones and Purple Push) which went for $60/8th. I ordered up an 1/8th of each of the 5 best strains and was told by the lady helping me that I was limited to 4. I got 4 and a bunch of hash and oil (Afgooey Super Melt, Purple Diesel Pixie Stick, Maui Wowee Honey Bud, Blueberry Oil and Purps Oil) and since I spent so much money I was given a free gram of my choice which I used to get some of the 5th top shelf bud. So in the end it worked out. Reviews of everything are on the way fyi.

One big difference about Harborside is they allow 2 visits per day, which at first was not a big deal until I got back to my hotel room and realized they forgot to include my oil. Since they also did not charge me for it I was not mad, just bummed that I had no oil. But since I was allowed a second trip, we decided to go back. And since we were heading back we thought we might as well get some more $ from the atm, which we did. As you can see in the picture, there was no shortage of “smokeables”.

All in all I an can honestly say that on more than one occasion I thought to myself “okay, how can I afford to move up here from OC in order to be close enough to shop here daily”? that’s how good a business they are running. And in case you are wondering, we never even went to the other 2 dispensaries on my list. It just was not necessary.

I paid cash both times I went to Harborside and forgot to ask if they take credit cards. I am hoping they do as that would pretty much make them the perfect collective.

After having a few members tell me how much they like Reseda Discount Caregivers in Tarzana I decided to give them a try. Turns out they were right, this is a top notch shop. I had no problem at all finding RDC. Located in a little shopping center about a mile north of the 101 freeway on your right side, directly next door to a discount cigarette shop (go figure), you can’t miss it. There is always plenty of parking and while I have not been at night, the neighborhood feels relatively safe.

The front door and windows are completely blacked out. There is no buzzer at RDC, you just open the door and walk in. Upon entering you walk directly into a holding pen. The pen is much like the pen at other dispensaries, steel cage walls on both sides and a ghetto style steel screen door with a dead bolt in front of you. Every time I have been, the steel screen door has been unlocked and I was able to walk right into the lobby. Reason for this is the armed security guard hawk-eyeing the monitor that is hooked up to the cameras out front. He knows you’re coming before you do.

The lobby is nice. It’s appx. 12×15′ with a big flat screen TV hanging on the wall. Most of the time they are watching cops. Behind a desk normal business style lobby desk is where the computer and security monitors are. My 1st time at RDC there was a girl behind the counter. She took my medical marijuana recommendation and my i.d. and had me approved in about 5 minutes. I have not seen her since.

The last few times I’ve been I just walk right in, hand the security guard my i.d., sign in, get my i.d. back and head right into the medicine room. The medicine room is nice and big with 2 big glass displays that form an “L”. There is also a cooler (maybe 2) that holds all the edibles.

The staff at RDC is really impressive. Not only to they roll deep (more people working behind the counter than any other dispensary I’ve been to), they have knowledge when it comes to their products, which is something I always like. There have been many a time where I have been in a dispensary and another customer will ask a question and the bud tender just says “I don’t know” and I’ll end up helping them out. Not at RDC.

The selection is great. I’d say probably 20+ strains of marijuana, 10+ different concentrates and a ton of edibles. They even sell clones and seeds. Some of the more impressive buds I’ve smoked from RDC are J1 (Jack Herer), OG Herojuana and some great Mango Kush. Reviews of all 3 are coming soon. But for the most part all their medicine is good.

During my most recent trip to RDC I got some rather depressing news. They will no longer be selling any concentrate that requires butane in the production process. No more oil or earwax. I was BUMMED. I had recently got some GDP and Train Wreck earwax that was killer and was looking forward to trying more. They said that because of the way it is made, the Fed’s are now putting them in the same group as heroin and meth. I’ve been aware of steeper penalties if you were caught with hash vs. marijuana for some time now. I am not sure if the laws have changed or if they are now being enforced differently but either way, no more earwax! I’ll be doing a little research to see if this is something all dispensaries are doing and will let everyone know asap.

Reseda Discount Caregivers is a good ways away from my house. Round trip, without traffic it is about a 2.5 hour drive. So for me to make the trip as often as I do, you can bet they have some good bud. Sitting here writing this I am trying to think of something negative to say and honestly, I can’t. Probably if there was one thing I wish they’d change it is the price of their top shelf bud. Right now nothing is over $65 but I’d like to see them reduce that to $55. But I guess beggars can’t be choosers.

Oh and I got a free gram of some ‘Green Crack’ on my first visit. Can’t forget to mention that.  –Chubbs

If Delta 9 "D9" were closer to my house, I’d probably be broke right now. Between their great selection and their low (low compared to other dispensaries) prices, this place is addicting. I read about D9 online and decided to make the drive up to The Valley. As long as there is no traffic it’s really not that bad.

D9 is located in Van Nuys on Van Nuys Blvd. between Roscoe and Sherman in a non-descript white building with red trim. There is parking in front and all along the right side. Probably the best parking of any dispensary.

When you walk up to the door the first thing you notice is there is no buzzer. All you do is tap on the glass door and the security guard unlocks the door via remote control. Upon entering you are trapped in a little 4×4 iron cage with the front door at your back, and an iron door to your left. Directly in front of you on the other side of the bars is a desk where an armed security guard monitors everything. You pass your i.d. and your medical marijuana recommendation through the bars and are then let into the lobby.

There is a nice leather couch to wait on while the guard verifies you. It took him about 5 minutes to get my verification done. After the 1st visit you only need to bring your i.d. to get in.

After getting verified you are let into the medicine room through a door in the back of the lobby. The medicine room is much larger than the lobby and has 2 couches, a big screen TV and of course 2 glass displays. These guys really know what they are doing and it shows in their selection and their prices. All top shelf marijuana goes for $20/G, $55/8th and $420/ounce. An we are talking about some dank!

Delta 9 is also the home to one of the strongest concentrates I’ve tried yet, OG Earwax. Not only does it get you wasted, it makes a normal size bowl last forever. As a first timer, I was given a free gram of my choice. I went with some OG Kush of course.

The guy behind the counter really knew what he was talking about. I prefer it when the people running the shop are also patients. I’ll be making a run up the 405 freeway to this top dispensary real soon for some more OG Kush, Pre 98 Bubba Kush, OG Earwax or some OG on OG Honey Bud.  –Chubbs
