Name: Purple Dragon, also known as Apalala

From: Harborside Health Center San Jose (Dispensary – San Jose)

Grade: A+++

Type: Hybrid – I believe it’s primarily sativa dominant

Genetics: I honestly do not know. However, based on my quick research I found that it is a hybrid cross-breed of several different strains including Purple Haze and BC Bud.

Price: $55/8th

Looks: Very sticky. The particular batch that I acquired were dank and dense nugs graciously covered with red/purplish green haired pistils and crystals that glittered under the light.

Smell: Pure potent, yet sweet, fruity and a very inviting smell. I actually somewhat reminisced upon smelling this particular strain as it reminded me of the original/old school grape flavored Bubbalicious Gum from the early 90s (circa 1990 – 1993).

Taste: Extremely smooth. To put it metaphorically, it was like smoking an aged yet properly cured wine. Leaves a sweet, pungent aftertaste on the tip of your tongue that makes you want it even more.

Buzz Type: Incredibly uplifting with an immediate impact. It will shed new light to your entire overall perspective on things. In a good way, of course. It will certainly get your nerves working to a very creative state that I cannot quite put into words. Now, I must say that my system has a pretty high tolerance but this wonderful strain surpassed that and just blew me away. Completely.

In fact, I’m going to describe in meticulous detail what I experienced just so the readers can somewhat envision the breathtaking experienced I endured with Purple Dragon. Let me start by saying that I only took a total of four good blunt hits and I was beyond good. A few minutes after my second hit, I already started having that tingly, good, and relaxing feeling that started to evenly spread all over my body. Thus, at this point I already knew I was in for some good time in cloud nine.

It took me a while to finally manage my third hit and shortly thereafter, I felt like all I needed was a cape and I could conquer the world. Yes, it was THAT GOOD. Actually thinking about it now, I should have probably stopped after my third toke but I hesitantly refused and took one more and after my fourth and last hit, I was beyond good. I mean I got to a state to where I could literally hear my hair growing (word to Grandma’s Boy).

Then just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, my analytical and creativity senses within me all of a sudden became enhanced. To the point where I started to critique my thoughts while laughing uncontrollably and being completely relaxed ALL at the same time. I know this sounds almost next to impossible but believe me, the feeling was one that I haven’t felt or experienced before with any other strain.

This, by far, has provided me with one, if not, the best experience I have ever had. Now the last significant effect on me that makes me definitely consider this easily my top 3 strain all time was how it extensively heightened my taste buds. I know that any and all remarkable strains will eventually give you the munchies and practically anything you eat will taste better. The only difference with Purple Dragon is it makes it even that much better. It will definitely give you the munchies in a very good, enjoyable way. The spaghetti and garden salad that my wife made me instantly went from very good to unbelievably scrumptious and to die for.

Buzz Length: Long and satisfying. I recall taking my first hit a little after 7 in the evening and I was good until I eventually knocked out around 10:30ish. Needless to say, this is not for your average novice user.

Overall: As detailed as I try to put it with everything I noted above, I’m still lost for words on how to perfectly describe this wonderful and awe-inspiring strain. I mean even if I were to describe it as legendary, I feel that it would still be an understatement. Once you’ve had this strain, I assure you that you would find it difficult to compare it to any other.

Every time I acquire my meds, I always make sure that I end up with some good/high end quality strains. However, simply put, this one was just off the charts. From the looks, smell, taste, and buzz type, it’s easily and definitely an A+++ all the way across the board. I think that they couldn’t have referred or named this strain any better than just simply PURPLE DRAGON. It’s an absolutely perfect strain. Period. Bar none! –KNOWN 2 OWN

Looks: The buds are a dark green color with LOTS of orange hairs everywhere! Trichomes aren’t that visible to the naked eye but they’re about 60/40 amber/cloudy under a x100 microscope. For looks I would give it an 8/10 because the abundance of orange hairs make up for the lack of visible trichs.

Smell: Well what can I really tell you about the smell, I was a little skeptical about the legitimacy of the strain while growing and curing it because of the lack of kush smell but once properly cured it smells DELICIOUS.

Imagine a room full of pine trees with just a small hole just big enough to stick your head into so you can take a huge whiff….that’s kinda what it’s like. The smell is a very distinct kush stank with a hint of lemon scent (PINEY!) that could not be mistaken easily for anything else.

I give the smell a 9/10. The only reason I’m not giving it a 10 is because the smell is still containable (doesn’t seep strongly through plastic mediums).

Taste: Vaped it and it tastes similar to how it smells but not really exceptional, I’ll give it a 7/10.

Buzz Type: It’s not an instant smack you on the face high but after a couple minutes you just want to sit there and do what entertains you and EAT!

Buzz Length: Short-Medium. After 2 bowls through a bong I would say it lasted a strong hour before I needed to medicate again.

Overall: I’m a medicinal patient that needs to consume a heavy indica for help with sleeping. This is the strain. I would also recommend this for people that need help eating because this one gives you the munchies like a mother haha. Thanks for reading. –ecslickz

Looks: Sticky dense buds completely frosted in trichomes with bright orange hairs sticking out of the leaves.

Smell: Potent earthy Kush smell with a strong musky twist to it.

Taste: You can feel the potency as the smoke dissipates in your lungs. Great musky taste that you can taste as soon as you exhale your smoke.

Buzz Type: Medium. This bud packs a strong punch and the buzz went straight to my head and eyes as soon as I hit my bowl. Very euphoric couch lock high that gives you strong munchies.

Buzz Length: Medium – long. 2 medium sized bowls of this stuff kept me buzzing on my couch for 2 hours.

Overall: Another great strain that I’m very satisfied with. I’m always looking out for strong Kush strains to help me with my sleeping problems and this one definitely got the job done. –tryptamine

Looks: Light green leaves with some dark orange hairs.

Smell: Skunky! With a hint of blue cheese, it lives up to its name!

Taste: Smooth, almost cool like menthol with a hint of pine.

Buzz Type: Mostly in the head, clear, and relaxing with a little bit of a crash.

Buzz Length: Medium – 1-1.5 hours.

Overall: This bud was really well taken care of, nicely trimmed and cured. The high is very enjoyable and great for thinking, but not really as active or social as I’ve been looking for. Also not a bad idea to have a stocked munchie stash when this bud is around! If I get the chance, I’ll definitely purchase this Blue Cheese again! –nate_vt

Looks: These nugs are long, thin and crystally. What really stands out to me are the thick, almost yarn like, orangey-yellow hairs covering the bud. Very wild looking.

Smell: Not great. Like good hydro weed.

Taste: Suffered as a result of being hydro, mostly because it wasn’t well flushed. Slightly harsh chem taste. Bad.

Buzz Type: Hard hitting indica type buzz. Foggy headed and lazy stone. Munchie inducing.

Buzz Length: Medium - 1.5 hours.

Overall: This weed definitely had potential but was not grown with the proper love it deserved. I wish I knew the genetics because it’s quite exotic looking. –CanadaDank07

I was super stoked to received these four Diesel reviews and pics from longtime member Heavyhitter88. Happy 4th!!! –Mrs. Chubbs

DIESEL MADNESS!!! Four different kinds of Diesel goodness: Chemdawg Diesel, Diesel 48, Diesel 77, and Sour Diesel. An old friend of mine contacted me through a mutual friend of ours and asked to meet up. So we met up at his place in upstate New York, smoked an l on his porch and proceeded to talk about buds. After a long conversation about growing and our own experiences, he took me into his “shack” (more like a second, ranch style house) deeper in the woods and showed me his babies.

A veritable jungle of diesel plants that were about as tall I am (6ft). I could not count how many he had, but he had more than 20 in the main room—and these are only the ones he told me about, as there were others in different areas that were just beginning vegetation or germination. He had them in soil and were 100% organic, except for the lighting of course. He told me they were numbered based on his personal system, but that some of them had specific genetics (like the Chemdog Sour or Sour Diesel). He had about four different diesel strains that were maturing, and promised he would call me as soon as they were ready to be plucked.

A couple weeks later I get a call to come meet him and pick up these beauties:

Name: Sour Diesel/Diesel 257 (grower’s numbering)

Grade: A- hands down. Strong, smack you in the face and wake you up kinda bud.

Type: Hybrid

Price: $250/ounce

Looks: ROAR! What the lion is to the animal kingdom, this looks like to the diesel kingdom! Long, curved, fat nugs, some were as long as my hand. They were dense and compact, but soft to the touch. The hairs were super long and curly, and there were so many of them that it looked like the bud was on FIRE!

Covered in clear trichs, but especially in the valleys. The hairs literally stuck to anything they touched, and the bag was so covered in hairs that I was able later to collect them all and roll a hair joint! Seriously, no joke, I smoked a thin hair joint that got me blaaaaaaaaazed!

Smell: Awesome! So strong that you would put your nose to the bag and recoil from the potency. It smelled mostly of sour, rotten fruit, just a really organic skunky smell. Nothing floral or incensy about it. Just plain old rotting organic matter. Damn, I can still smell it now, the smell is literally ingrained in my memory – that’s how strong it was!

Taste: Surprisingly very little like the smell. Though the taste was potent, it was more sour, sweeter and skunkier, no smokiness to it. Again, the taste lingered especially in the sinuses.

Buzz Type: Heavy head high coupled with a awesome energetic body buzz. After the high wears off, you realize not that you have been basically unconscious for the past two hours, but that you either travelled a very long distance on foot, or gotten many things done. It is a surprisingly productive high. But also hits you with a hard come down and serious cases of both devil eyes and the munchies. You feel like your eyes are bright red, and that you have an unquenchable appetite.

Buzz Length: Long, easily 2.5 hours, but depending on the amount smoked could get as high as 3 and a half hours.

Overall: This Sour Diesel is the sh**t. Best Sour Diesel I have ever had. This is the literal definition of “fire”.

Smoked from a bong and the sourness really comes out, but from a blunt or joint and the taste is less sour and a little sweeter. One milked rip of this not only overwhelms your taste buds, but will also leave you on the floor coughing and laughing. NEVER EVER GO TO A CHINESE FOOD BUFFET AFTER SMOKING THIS UNLESS YOU WANT SEVERE GASTRONOMICAL ISSUES. I practically put that restaurant out of business after smoking two blunts of this between three heads. DEVASTATION!

Conclusion: Of the four diesel’s I was provided, the Sour Diesel was definitely the best. They all had their own unique appeals, but I found myself more often than not turning to the Sour Diesel for evening or nighttime smokes. Would not recommend this for morning sessions as the comedown hits you like a fifty pound weight on your brain.

Buzz Report: I am thoroughly grateful to my grower friend for blessing me with these fine specimens of botanical beauty, and only hope that he will call me after his next crop!

And on a final note: a couple days ago I was stupid enough to mix all four diesels into a single long dutch and puffed it to my face. Not only did the blunt burn for half an hour, but about ¾ of the way through I found myself swaying on my feet and having a seriously hard time standing or raising the blunt to my mouth.

I sat down on a nearby bench and spent the remainder of the session slowly puffing on the blunt. I tried to blow a mushroom and ghost it but after doing so the flavors stuck in my throat and induced a heavy bout of coughing. After the blunt was finished I tried to play video games but could not focus on the screen. I tried to watch television but could not understand what was being said. I tried to draw but made countless mistakes, and so I resigned myself to looking out my window and daydreaming until the heavy, brutal high wore off. Looks: As you can see by the pictures, I had to share this because of it’s sheer beauty. Definitely one of the best purple specimens I’ve ever received from anyone, anywhere.

Smell: In the bag this stuff has a skunky smell that stings your nostrils. Grind it up and take a whiff and the skunky smell fills your nose long after you’ve take the grinder away from your nose.

Taste: Tastes great, although when I really milk the bong up I tended to cough up a lung. Nice small hits really brought out an almost sweet taste without coughing.

Buzz Type: It doesn’t give you that stoned feeling that locks you in the couch but it does give you the munchies which might leave you on the couch munching out like I was. This also gives you a lot of energy I felt like.

I smoked maybe 2 grams of this over a couple hours with a few friends and I never felt a crash, never felt tired. That was a few hours ago and it’s 2am now. During the couple hours we were smoking I was ripped and full of laughter, we all were!

Buzz Length: Long. I was definitely high for a couple hours after last intake, really never felt a crash just mellowed out.

Overall: Definitely happy with this stuff although it’s not good for going to sleep. I have work at 8am! –PatientX

Looks: First thing that came to mind was "man oh man is this bud leafy." This is my first time with Green Crack and I don’t think this version does it justice at all. Orange hairs, Ninja Turtle green with some purple leaves here and there, and a light layer of frosting.

Smell: Super piney with a little bit of a sweet spice.

Taste: Tasted kind of harsh, could be due to the poor grooming/growing or it wasn’t flushed thoroughly. When you exhaled through your nose you could really taste/smell the pine.

Buzz Type: This Green Crack wasn’t as potent as some of the other strains I’ve had lately. Starts in the head and slowly slithers down to the rest of your body, not as social as the other sativas I’ve had which make me think its a hybrid. Not a clear high of any sort, made me sort of space/zone out and not pay attention to much going on around me.

Buzz Length: Short – maybe an hour, I ended up blazing my entire half 8th that I had purchased before the night was over.

Overall: Like I said before, this version of Green Crack I don’t feel does the name any justice and priced too high for its quality (or lack of). I was expecting to get my socks knocked off but I guess you’ll have that sometime. The buds were way too leafy for me, but I do remember having some killer munchies.

I would recommend trying this if you haven’t, I’m sure not everyone’s was like mine and I can definitely see its potential. –nycdgrower

We don’t normally have reviews that are comparison in nature, but I thought this one was interesting. And beautiful. All at the same time. Make sure to note that there are pics of both strains.

Name: OG Headband

From: Delta-9 (Dispensary – Torrance)

Grade: A-

Type: Hybrid – I’m unsure of the breakdown, but this batch is balanced a little Headband dominant, it seems. Stony all around whether it’s in the mind or body. Both indica and sativa are highly evident.

Genetics: (OG Kush x Master Kush x Sour Diesel) x OG Kush; is what it sounds like, but that would be a backcross? It may be just an OG dominate phenotype of Headband.

Price: $18/gram, $55/8th

Looks: Very tight and compact bract and calyx structure. Very generous trichome development on all plant material surfaces. The pistils are a very light, vibrant orange color. The plant material surfaces are almost olive green in color, but totally masked by the abundance of milky trichomes.

Smell: Smells totally Headband dominant at first, but a subtle lemony OG hint can be detected with a keen nose. The OG smell could be more prominent in the mix, but the buttery skunk funk of the Headband is equally as interesting to a refined sense of smell.

Taste: Headband dominant on the inhale, changes to a nice hashy OG to finish up with a buttery, foody HB taste on the exhale. This herb has what I like to refer to as “chameleon taste” where the taste is changing shapes and palates all to your delight. (Smoking out of my new Sheldon Black bubbler; not too clean, but the not dirtiest it’s been since I’ve had it.)

Buzz Type: A total hybrid high. It’s really up AND REALLY stony; slightly narcotic as well. This and more so the 707 Headband I’ve been getting recently have been helping me tremendously with common appetite stimulation issues I experience often. Headband helps me grub down hard. It’s a pretty positive buzz as well – making all perceptions really high and light hearted.

Buzz Length: Medium – Long; I have a high tolerance, and smoke often. This OG Headband really has the lengthy high I’ve been searching for with no immediate burn out – but common use will build a tolerance after a couple weeks like any other exceptional strain. So enjoy, but I wouldn’t indulge for too long.

Overall: I must say I’ve fallen in love with the Headband genotype. It’s definitely one I plan on keeping up with as time goes on. Aesthetically, the OG Headband I have is more appealing than the 707 Headband I had available, but I have to love the 707 a little more cause of the butteriness of it all, and I just like the potency better. I just cant dig it enough.

This batch of OG Headband probably could have been cured a little better to enhance the potency of the OGness of it overall, so I gave it an A-. Long live the Headband! –Merkaba
