I was excited to read this review, as I specifically remember this strain not being anything special. I wish MGM had sent more pictures, cause all we had was some stringy pieces. Kind of looks the same but what he got sounds waaayyyy better. –Mrs. Chubbs

Type: Sativa

Price: $23/gram

Looks: Like the furriest stems I’ve ever seen with the tiniest of buds scattered throughout. This stuff must yield so little which makes sense why it was so expensive.

Smell: Floral lemon spice with a slight musky scent

Taste: Sweet and hazy, had an old school spice taste in the exhale.

Buzz Type: Positive soaring high. Such a clear high and uplifting smoke. Great way to start your day off.

Buzz Length: Medium. 90 minutes or so.

Overall: Named after an absolute legend in the Marijuana industry, this strain is something special. Dr. Allen Grinspoon would have been proud of this strain for sure. This and Quasar from Amnesia which is similar in looks and effects were my two go-to varieties for wake-n-bake sessions.

This strain takes 95-100 days to flower and comes in at a whopping 25% THC so this isn’t for the novice cultivator in any way, and I think the quality of the high proved it. We enjoyed the Dr. for an hour or two at Barney’s corner location then made our way over to the new spot for lunch. –Meangreenmartian

MGM, you are my hero! How is it that you get to Amsterdam so often?

From: Green Place (Coffee Shop – Amsterdam)

Grade: B

Type: Indica

Price: $15/gram

Looks: Very bright green shade that doesn’t resemble most of the kush I smoke.

Smell: Smell was good but it didn’t reek until I broke it up in THC grinder so I was slightly disappointed.

Taste: Taste was the best aspect of this variety from Green Place. Strong layered mango flavor that lingered on the tongue.

Buzz Type: Stoned body but not the usual Kush stoned. My brain was still somewhat functional.

Buzz Length: Medium, a little over an hour.

Overall: For being a relatively new coffee shop this place kills it. Easily in my top 5 shops and I’ve been to them all over the last 6 years. I also had Chocolope, Blue Cheese, and SSH Grom G.P. All were exceptionally grown samples. Expect future reviews. –Meangreenmartian

I remember smoking this at Grey Area. I hate to admit, but I don’t really remember much about it

Genetics: Shrom x Martianmeangreen

Price: Complimentary

Looks: Ultra frosty, almost white buds. Very milky resin glands under close examination.

Smell: Fuely which would make sense being MMG is one of her parents. I’m told Shrom is an elite, clone only strain from Cali. Maybe someone has insight on this.

Taste: Sweet and hazy with a good bit of citrus left lingering in the mouth.

Buzz Type: Strong Up high with minimal body stone. Great for kicking off a Dam trip.

Buzz Length: Long due to the fact that this was the first strain we puffed in the city. Little less than 2 hours.

Overall: Was told this was from a batch on the way to the Grey Area. Was given 5 grams for free by my apartment owner. Thanks Duke! –Meangreenmartian

Name: Amnesia Ice

From: Amnesia (Coffee Shop – Amsterdam)

Grade: A

Type: Dutch Ice-o-Lator Hash

Price: $50/g

Looks: Like little pieces of a lighter shade delicate milk chocolate. This stuff was like lightly compacted powder.

Smell: Strong chocolatey, incense smell that is relinquished when you put a flame to it and see it bubble.

Taste: Smooth complex taste that I found similar to the Waterworks Iceolator hash from De Dampkring.

Buzz Type: Creepy sativa high that seems to never reach its pinnacle. Highly potent.

Buzz Length: Long. Buzz lasted for so damn long, easily 2 1/2 hours +.

Overall: This might have been the best hash we smoked all trip. Mostly went straight kief and Amnesia Ice bowls at our local coffee shop, 420 Cafe which I will review a lot of samples from in the near future. The buzz was insanely buggin and paranoid which I truly do love. I will be sure to snag the full gram instead of the half next time. –Meangreenmartian

Name: East Coast Sour Diesel

From: Grey Area (Coffee Shop – Amsterdam)

Grade: A-

Type: Sativa

Price: $15/g

Looks: Crazy multicolored funk that resembles OG Kush. Lime green mixed in with emerald on top of abundant crystals and orange.

Smell: Overpowering lemon, grapefruit, citrus aroma with slight skunk undertones.

Taste: Taste was honestly the same as smell which is always nice.

Buzz Type: Very creative, positive, and uplifting burn. Great afternoon puff while enjoying the sights.

Buzz Length: Long, about 2 hours.

Overall: This was a real treat that Grey Area got their hands on an elite clone of Diesel. I still find Diesel to be one of, if not, the tastiest strains in the world and this did not disappoint. If you’re looking for a really enjoyable smoke then the NYCD at Amnesia or this Sour Diesel from Grey Area are the two best in the city.

And for some insanely good munch for sweet tooth’s I recommend going across the street from the Grey Area to Puccini Bomoini (Staalstraat 17) for some of the finest chocolate Europe has to offer. –Meangreenmartian

Ahh, a member after my own heart! Puccini Bomboni is without question the best chocolate I have EVER eaten. Usually, Grey Area is so crowded, Chubbs makes our purchases there while I get the chocolate then we head over to Amnesia to indulge. –Mrs. Chubbs

Hmm, I have not heard of this coffee shop. Going to the Cannabis Cup, you tend to only go to the shops that have entered strains in the competition…and there are certainly enough to last the entire week and then some. But I looked up this shop and it seems pretty cool. Will have to hit it up in November. –Mrs. Chubbs

Type: Hybrid

Price: €8/gram reduced to €6 for me and my friends as we bought around an ounce of this together.

Looks: Large hand grenades full of trichomes.

Smell: Sweet and musky. Well cured and very good smelling.

Taste: Bio grow led to a pure weed taste with barely any noticeable cottonmouth. Sweet and lively at any time of the day.

Buzz Type: Strong sativa high lasts around 40 mins and transitions gradually into a light non couch locked indica stone that disappears in a few hours.

Buzz Length: ?

Overall: One of the best weeds we smoked, this only missed out on a 5/5 rating because of a few small curing niggles that made no difference to the smoke. It gets up to a 4.9 because the stalks were removed before the bag was weighed; a nice touch.

The owner of Crush is super friendly and gives away a lot of freebies. He says they will soon undergo a short renovation which should make the shop even chiller. Moreover this was great weed that everyone loved. –polon1um

Here we are, another strain from the Dam. I quite like De Dampkring…they have some kick ass hot chocolate!

Grade: A

Type: Sativa

Price: €12/gram. One of the few strains above 10€ that’s worth the price tag.

Looks: Gorgeous dense small buds, slightly trichomey with brownish orange hairs (most likely the reason for the name) which are hard to see in the pictures as it is a small nugget.

Smell: Sweet and strong. Very strong without being skunk.

Taste: Bio organic, very pure and clean taste with no chemicals at all. Absolutely delicious and wonderful in every way.

Buzz Type: Deep indica full body high with a heavy couch lock that follows an equally enjoyable sativa rush.

Buzz Length: ?

Overall: My favourite weed to smoke in my bong. It’s too sticky for smoking a spliff of but it’s perfect in some RooR glass. It competes with AK47 x Blueberry (my favourite overall) and is therefore a perfect pot to smoke here in sunny Amsterdam. –polon1um

Polon1um did not include the strain type, but to my knowledge all Chocolope is sativa. So, I was a bit confused about the buzz type since the experience sounded mostly hybrid. –Mrs. Chubbs

Got our hands on some of this last year in Amsterdam – boy, was it stoney.

Looks: Lovely tight little nuggets.

Smell: Can’t remember, sorry guys.

Taste: Tastes so nice in the vaporizers they have behind the bar at the 420 Cafe. Was ripping vapes all day at 420 – I’m surprised they put up with me for so long. Even when smoked in a bowl or joint it went down nicely…not as harsh like other strains in Amsterdam.

Buzz Type: A nice strong high, not as good as the haze they have at 420 though.

Buzz Length: Very long. The last bag I smoked before we left, was still high when I was going through customs in the UK.

Overall: Really nice weed, well grown and a very strong strain. I smoked about five grams of this over the weekend, kept coming back and buying more. Couldn’t get enough of this.

Buzz Report: Arriving in Amsterdam I knew the first coffee shop I wanted to go to was 420 to try their 420 haze. On arrival I was told that they don’t do the haze or it’s their Neville’s Haze, something like that, didn’t really understand what the matey was on about. So I got a gram of the 420 Kush they were entering in the Cannabis Cup. I can remember thinking how nice and tasty it was in those vapes, the staff were very friendly as well. –Spamz

Looks: Lovely beautiful nugs.

Smell: Being honest I can’t remember. Took a couple pics on my last trip to Amsterdam, favorite weed I bought out there.

Taste: Can’t remember, I can remember thinking it didn’t taste like Mango if that is any help.

Buzz Type: This shit got me wrecked. I smoked a fat spliff of this at Innovation in the Dam (English Drum and Bass rave the weekend before Cannabis Cup) and had a couple of pints, believe me I was wasted.

Buzz Length: Don’t know…finished one spliff then rolled another…

Overall: My favorite skunk in Amsterdam. Tried the 2009 Cannabis Cup winner Super Lemon Haze, I suppose the Lemon was better but not by much IMO.

Buzz Report: Erm…had a bit of a mad weekend. I’m sure the buzz was nice. Very good medicinal purposes. –Spamz
