Type: Dutch Ice-o-Lator Hash

Price: $50/g

Looks: Like little pieces of a lighter shade delicate milk chocolate.  This stuff was like lightly compacted powder.

Smell: Strong chocolatey, incense smell that is relinquished when you put a flame to it and see it bubble.

Taste: Smooth complex taste that I found similar to the Waterworks Iceolator hash from De Dampkring.

Buzz Type: Creepy sativa high that seems to never reach its pinnacle.  Highly potent.

Buzz Length: Long.  Buzz lasted for so damn long, easily 2 1/2 hours +.

Overall: This might have been the best hash we smoked all trip.  Mostly went straight kief and Amnesia Ice bowls at our local coffee shop, 420 Cafe which I will review a lot of samples from in the near future.  The buzz was insanely buggin and paranoid which I truly do love.  I will be sure to snag the full gram instead of the half next time.  –Meangreenmartian

Type: Polm I believe. Imported from Africa I am told.

Price: Appx. $16/G

Looks: Nice light brown, bordering on red. Semi compressed and very sticky.

Smell: Like normal hash which is flowers with some incense mixed in. Shiraz also had a little bit of a chocolate smell to it.

Taste: Smooth, light smoke that never made me cough. Very nice.

Buzz Type: Hard hitting face warming type of buzz. I bought a glass pipe just for this hash and it was definitely a wise purchase.

Buzz Length: Medium. About 1.5 hours. Not quite as long as some of the other hash varieties I smoked.

Overall: For the price I think Shriaz is a great deal. In my opinion it earned the 3rd place trophy it was awarded.

Buzz Report: One of the many ways to start the morning right in Amsterdam is to head over to Amnesia and fire a gram or 2 of Shiraz. With it’s energetic buzz it’ll get you going.  –Chubbs

Type: Dutch Bubble Hash.

Looks: Like some good, rich bubble hash.

Smell: Strong incense. Smelled like fire hash. Can’t really explain it in more depth. Just Great!

Taste: Very nice taste. It was incredible on the exhale.

Buzz Type: Good buzz. More body than heady. Acted as a good muscle relaxer.

Buzz Length: Long.

Overall: This was some fun hash to smoke. Putting a flame to it unleashes a fury of bubbles along with an unreal pure hash smell. We bought 5-6 grams of Natural Sin and smoked it in a variety of ways whether it be bongs, bowls, snakes in joints, and on the second to last day we pounded some of it out and used the hash as the actual wrap which we filled with L.A. I had read so many good things about Amnesia prior to going to Amsterdam that I started to think that they may be too good to be true. So needless to say when my wife and I happened upon the shop one afternoon while out for a little walk, I just had to see what all the hype was about.

Amnesia definitely lived up to it’s online reputation. Right as we walked in I caught a whiff of a very sweet strain that drew my attention straight to the bar. My wife grabbed a table and I struck up a conversation with Sara Jane, the bud tender.

She was incredibly cool even offering to let me come back one morning before they opened so I could take pictures for MR. Unfortunately the one morning I was able to come by early enough, I was in such a hurry (will explain later) that I did not have time to take any pictures. Either way I thought it was very nice of just to offer. Turns out Sara Jane happened to be working each time we visited Amnesia and welcomed us with a smile and hello. It was quite nice actually.

Inside Amnesia is similar to most shops in the way that the seating is arranged. A lot of the buildings are alike as far as their architecture goes. One story, narrow, deep rooms with couches along 1 wall. Maybe 5 or 7 tables with 10 or 12 chairs opposite the couches. Immediately to your right as you enter the shop is their Volcano bar which is where the 3 house Volcano vaporizers sit. Just to the left of the Vape bar is the bud bar. Amnesia is known for selling quality weed and hash and I was stoked to be able to finally try some for myself.

For the 2008 Cannabis Cup, Amnesia had put together what they called “The Cup Mix” which was a sample of each of their entries. It consisted of a half gram of LSD, Amnesia Lemon, Utopia Haze and Shiraz (Review Coming Soon) all for a little over $30 (25 Euro). Amnesia works together with Barney’s which is why they included some Utopia Haze in the mix.

Since I had both me and my wife’s Cannabis Cup passes I was able to buy two Cup Mixes and was it ever worth it. The Amnesia Lemon was so good. And the Utopia Haze ended up taking 2nd overall so it was a great deal. I dropped the $20 deposit they require to use a house bong (some of the cleanest house bongs in Amsterdam) and went to town.

Overall we had a really chill experience in Amsterdam. There were a few little things here and there that made it a little “exciting”. My wife and I spent one afternoon doing a bunch of touristy stuff. One of which was going to the Vincent Van Gogh Museum. It takes a little over an hour to walk through the entire museum and at the end there is a really cool gift shop. My wife really like Van Gogh so she spent a few bucks and got some cool souvenirs. After leaving the museum, we went straight to Amnesia and pretty much spent the rest of the night partying there.

The next morning we wake up and realize my wife left the gift bag from The Van Gogh Museum hanging on the back of her chair at Amnesia. We had some really cool gifts and a few personal items in the bag so I decided to walk over to Amnesia and see if by some lucky chance the bag was still there. Being from California, I was 100% sure that someone walked off with it. I mean, here in S. California it’s not too bad but realistically if you leave something sitting somewhere for more than an hour, it’s gone.

When I got to Amnesia it was about 30 minutes before they opened. I saw Sara Jane inside getting ready for the day and knocked on the door. She waved as if to say hello, come back later. I kept knocking and finally she came over to see what I wanted. I explained to her what happened and she said that my wife’s bag had been turned in by a guest at the end of the night.

I was shocked. Not only did they still have our stuff, but when I got back to the hotel room and looked closer at the bag, there was a bunch of stuff like a beanie and some sun glasses that were not even ours. I felt like it was karma that I got our stuff back so I was sure to head back to Amnesia and return the items that did not belong to us. Anyway the moral of the story is, don’t go to museums when you could be sitting in a coffee shop.    –Chubbs

Pros: Location, Friendly Staff, Quality Weed and Hash, Good Coffee/Hot Chocolate, Great Vibe, Good Music

Cons: No Credit Cards, No ATM, Loud, Volcano Bags Were A Little Beat Up

Genetics: Skunk #1 x Amnesia Haze

Price: $17/G

Looks: Super frosty lime green nugs with some nice dark orange hairs. Nugs had a yellow tint from the fully matured trichomes.

Smell: The lemon scent was definitely obvious but after you ground up a bud it was ridiculous. Smelled like lemon heads candy.

Taste: Smooth, sweet smoke that barely made me cough at all.

Buzz Type: Cerebral, uplifting and very clear high. I loved this bud.

Buzz Length: Nice and long. Good 2 hour buzz at least.

Overall: I was stoked to have some Amnesia Lemon in the Cannabis Cup combo pack Amnesia put together. It was a Grade A sativa for sure.

Buzz Report: We spent a lot of time at Amnesia. It is not only one of the coolest coffee shops in Amsterdam but it was a stone’s throw from our hotel. That being said, I got to know Amnesia Lemon really well. It was probably the bud I smoked most often when pulling my daily wake-n-bake.  –Chubbs

Looks: Very hairy and multi colored. Less trimmed than most buds which I like especially with sativas.

Smell: Like fresh lemons and grapefruits.

Taste: Pineapple candy with citrus. The exhale leaves your mouth salivating for the next puff. The best tasting bud I had this trip and I smoked numerous Kushes.

Buzz Type: Good social weed. Had us laughing at all kinds of things that were going on. This is why they call it the funny stuff.

Buzz Length: Medium to long. Classic Soma strain, buzz lasted about an hour to an hour and a half.

Overall: Went back to Amnesia three times throughout the week for this and some of their amazing pure sin hash.  –meangreenmartian

Looks: Very good. Tight lime green nugs with wild orange hairs.

Smell: Had a bit of a skunky smell. After it been in the grinder, it reminded me of Life Savers candy.

Taste: Nice smooth smoke. Hint of lemon.

Buzz Type: Great buzz that hits right away. Made me very talkative.

Buzz Length: Long. I kept waiting for the buzz to wear off so I could judge another sample but it just kept on kickin.

Overall: LSD is a potent indica that tastes great and does not have you so loaded that you don’t feel like moving. Great bud for going out and having fun.

Buzz Report: One morning I started the day out at Amnesia with 2 fat LSD joints. I finished smoking them at about 10am. At noon, I was still pretty damn baked. I was hoping to be able to judge a few different strains but had to hold off and wait for my LSD buzz to wear off. Crowd pleaser for sure!  –Chubbs
