Looks: Had a distinct red tint to the nug that can be attributed to the coating of mature amber trichomes. Was a bit dry and crunchy.

Smell: Strong tangy/fruity smell.

Taste: Tasted decent. Seems each Haze variety in Amsterdam I tried had it’s own unique flavor as opposed to some Kush’s I smoke here in the U.S. that taste very similar.

Buzz Type: Very clean body high. Felt the buzz immediately after exhaling my first toke.

Buzz Length: Medium. I was really wishing the buzz would have lasted a bit longer. I really enjoyed the high.

Overall: A great variety of Haze that was almost perfectly cured. Unfortunately the buzz did not last as long as I would have liked.

Buzz Report: Sitting in the 420 Cafe with some people that my wife and I had just met, I smoked my entire sample of 420 haze in one joint. Man the thin papers that the coffee shops provide you with for free really bring out the taste in the herb. I kept commenting on how good the 420 Haze tasted.  –Chubbs

When you call your coffee shop the 420 Cafe, I am expecting a laid back environment with A LOT of pot smoke in the air. And when I walked into the 420 Cafe while on my 2008 Cannabis Cup coffee shop crawl,that is exactly what I found.

Centrally located in close to what I consider the middle of the city, 420 Cafe is a place where you can go by yourself and will making new friends in no time. The main reason in my opinion that it’s such a great place to socialize is the long picnic style table and benches that are in the back of the shop. It’s almost impossible not to say hello to the person right across the table from you as you both sit back and enjoy a fatty.

The bud that 420 Cafe entered into the 2008 Cannabis Cup was called 420 Haze. I vaguely remember the bud so thank god I was able to sit down and write a review as I smoked it. Also, when we were at the 420 Cafe we met a couple in their early 40’s from Tennessee. They were bikers and had a pretty good nose for good bud. So they actually "helped" me with the review. I’ll be posting it later today or tomorrow morning.

The Shop itself it pretty nice. As you walk in you can help but feel welcome with all the rich, dark hardwood. Almost immediately you are greeted by the bud tender behind the bar. They have a decent size menu but since I was there specifically for The Cup, I only went with their entry. I wish I would have tried a bit of their hash or one of their indicas. Oh well, there is always next time.

It’s a bit of a narrow building (as many shops are) with a very cozy feel, great staff and enough room for everyone to sit back and unwind. A great place to party for sure!

ABOVE – A chunk of some 420 Haze

420 Cafe is definitely a coffee shop that I will be visiting on my next trip to Amsterdam. One thing I will never forget about my trip was sitting in the back of the 420 Cafe chatting with the couple from Tennessee and getting WASTED. As we are sitting there, another couple comes over and sits down. They are from Japan and are obviously there for The Cup as they both have passes around their necks. Neither of them introduce themselves so the 4 of us just kind of sit back and hang out.

Anyway, to make a long story short, the Japanese guy rolls up a fat ass joint of some 420 Haze and mixes in a little hash. About half way through the joint he looks RIPPED. I could of swore his eyes were shut but he was able to look around and talk with his girl. I hope I don’t offend anyone but the first thing that came to mind was "man, that guy is seriously Chinese eyed". (For those who don’t know, "Chinese Eyed" is a slang term for really baked). That 1 thought in my head made me start cracking up. Now remember, there are 5 other people at the table with me and none know what I am thinking/laughing at.

Everyone just kind of looked at me and brushed it off as me being high. But man was I laughing hard. That’s one thing I really like about Amsterdam and The Cannabis Cup, you never know who you are going to meet or where they will be from. Definitely and international party.  –Chubbs
